Difference bewteen Pilots, Engineers, Scientists?
Can someone tell me the differences between the different types of Kerbins used on a ship. When would I ever fly with an engineer and what advantages does he or a scientist have over a pilot?

Engineers can repair broken wheels and landing legs (provided that they're only mildly broken and not exploded or ripped off), pilots allow you to use SAS even if the command pod has no SAS module (do not confuse SAS with reaction wheels, you should still have reaction wheels on the ship even if you have a pilot or if the command pod has an SAS module), and scientists are only really useful in Career mode or Science mode, but in the case you're playing those, they allow you to get more funds back for recovering parts that are landed or splashed down on Kerbin, and also increase science gain, and are also needed to operate Mobile Processing Labs.

Also, Kerbin is the planet. They're called Kerbals. Hence "Kerbal Space Program"

Pilots, which are able to provide SAS stability to a craft, or point the craft at a certain direction.
Scientists, which increase the yield from science collection, data transfer and processing information in a lab.
Engineers, which are able to repair certain parts of a spacecraft, or repack parachutes.

Pilots basically unlock more advanced auto-pilot functions as they level up (things like SAS). The same as high-tech probe cores, but without electricity usage and having to reach the late-game tech tree.

Engineers can repair stuff that breaks due to crashing. They can only fix partially damaged stuff, not rebuild entire parts. Someone said they also increase mining efficiency, but I haven't tested this.

Scientists allow you to "waste" less data when transmitting it via communicator instead of bringing it back in person.

Engineers do increase mining efficiency, they also can repack used-up parachutes. Very handy.

Thanks for the quick responses!

Pilots get all the ladies....

Engineers do all the work....

Scientists take all the credit.....

Do you have to do the repack manually?

Yup. You have to get out with the engineer, right click the chute and click repack.

Scientists can, in addition to the above, also reset science modules like the goo canister, so they can be reused after you get the data out.
