Space Station Mods?
Hey guys, building space stations is by far my favorite part of this game, but i'm looking for mods to add more parts and functionality. So far I have StationScience 1.3.1, NearFutureElectrical, NearFuturePropulsion and NearFutureSolar.

What else would you guys suggest? I'm definitely looking for something to give more functionality (and a reason) to my space station other than orbital refueling.

Would also say try his AEC (asteroid) one for turning an asteroid into a colony.

PLUS as I've said countless times USE YOUR IMAGINATION.

Establish a max time you want kerbals in space, so will need to rotate them, using a life support mods works well with this, you need to bring fresh crew and supplies up to your station.

Mods like kethane or karbonite can add refining and distribution to the fuel side of your station.

Etc Etc.

You can also combine all that with Extraplanetary Launchpads, which lets you make orbital shipyards.

Thank you very much everyone! These are awesome! The robotic arm breaking and requiring repair in "Orbital Material Sicence" is priceless. Inclusion of physical maintainance is pretty cool, EVA's are always fun.
There is another mod where stuff breaks down and wears out and the kerbals have to repair it somewhere too, I have never tried it.

I'm having a problem getting the Orbital Material Science to work. I assumed you just drop the files into their respective folders but nothing shows up in KSP. I looked on the website and there is no readme or install instructions. Can anyone help?
I read the last few pages of the thread something broke it recently they guy was away and should be back soon to look at it.

Here is the beginning framework to my station. So far it has a Nuclear Reactor to power the future modules (the Science Station mod modules eat up A LOT of juice) and a space tugboat to move sections and modules around. The longer stem sticking off to the right side with where i plan on docking ships for refueling and whatnot. Let me say, this baby was a trick to get into orbit in one piece. The tugboat and large RCS tank are the only additions so far.

I found with earlier stations, if you don't plan ahead for further additions you end up with a lot of flexible points (dock-o-trons), which can tear your station apart. Below is my current research station with nearly snaps in half each time i dock with it... Also, notice the large, ugly solar arrays patchworked on because i didn't realize the power requirements.

if you have KAS (kerbal attachment system) you could strut stuff and build in different ways.
Then it doesnt get too long and flexible.
