Decouplers does not working as intended
Hi guys i never had this problem before but i came back to KSP and updated the game and now im having this problem of the side Decouplers when i use them the spent fuel body ejects but keeps crashing into my ship they seem to turn inword from the top . i know i could use the little rocket ejector to force them clear but early in the game they will not be available. any help.
thanks.

thats just physics and not a glitch. If you dont have access to the "small rocket ejectors" you will need to redesign your rocket.

Ok thank you....

It will all be changed in a few days anyway due to the 1.0 release. No idea what thats going to do to the aerodynamics of things. Should be interesting though.

yeah im realy looking forward to it ...going to restart from day one ;)

if you have SAS on the craft get some rotational speed before ejecting that can help them to clear the craft or the small sepatron bosters on the decoupled body

actualy, there IS a bug with decouplers, will be fixed with 1.0 appearantly. Till then there is

OP..try to throttle back as much as possible when staging these decouplers.....let them fall away from the rocket a bit and then throttle back up. Another thing you can do is try and put the desouplers as close to the top of these stacks as possible....yea, I know...kinda a pain to build this way but it really helps till you can get the Seperatrons unlocked.

Seperatrons...one of those parts you dont realize how helpful it really is till ya try and do without....

I would put two sets of decouplers, 1 set at the bottom and 1 set at the top, keep your throttle at medium when you stage and then throttle up as soon you finish that stage.

the fuel tank or srb will only be attached to 1 of those decouplers cause of how the game works so apart from adding to part count does not really do much.

also, seperatrons are awesome, but be carefull how and where you place them, theye tend to blow up fuel tanks and engines when placed close to them

Ok thanks all for the help and advise.

Assuming you're outside the atmosphere when decoupling, spin your craft and they'll fly away from you when they release... it technically works in atmosphere too, but it's not exactly safe to start spinning in atmospheric flight if you need to maintain control.
Otherwise, just try to balance them as well as possible - I haven't tried it, but I suspect that the offset control will allow you to move them up or down while maintaining the connection with the decoupler, which should allow you to put that connection on that part's dry centre of mass which, assuming the decoupler bug mentioned above doesn't make decoupled parts change pitch, should help... but obviously not if offset doesn't work that way.
