Question about experience and what the different jobs do.
I already figured out what a pilot does. What benefit does the other two jobs give you? I also notice that your guys can gain experiance. How does that benefit your guys? An answer or a link to an existing answer would be appreciated.

Pilot...well, they pilot stuffs...as they level up they will have more refined control over SAS systems....a fully leveled pilot will have little buttons to left of navball...one to hold each common vector (as in Prograde, Retrograde, normal-anti-notmal and so on...).

Scientists do glorious SCIENCE!!! sorry kinda a thing from when science mode first got added =P Little fuzzy on how these guys work as they level, but i THINK they can turn in reports for higher science gains..this can be super helpful lategame..once ya get all tha parts unlocks at all your science gains can be turned to cash$$

Engineers..all I know about them is they can fix certain parts as they level up.....not sure at what lvl you can fix what part though.....have been scared of rovers and low lvl engineers since career started lol.

I'd be interested to learn more about the effects of leveling too! As for what the different jobs can do, engineers can repack parachutes among other things. Don't all three classes get the retrograde, anti-normal, up, buttons?

^^ More than you need to know by far. Only pilots get SAS modes from XP, engineers gain parachute repacking, wheel & landing leg repairs, and scientists ... well ... dunno.

I think scientists could be bugged. They don't seem to do much of anything regardless of XP level in the game.

New in 1.0, scientists can gather data from science instruments and reset them so that they can be used again, as long as the scientist can EVA and get close enough to grab the data. Think of them as your own personal lab.

Pilots: Start with stability assists and are able to lock on nodes. They are more or less necessary for a stabilized flight if you aren't using advanced drones (which do the same stuff).

Engineers: Can repair broken Stuff like parachutes and wheels etc.

Scientists: Increase Science Output when transfering science (yellow number) and are able to restore experiments like science jr. and goo container.

In my opinion scientists are way better than any other "class" because of their ability to restore experiments. They don't need to get additional abilities. Furthermore their bonus to science is applied to conversion rating for the processing lab.

Easiest way to increase your Tech.
Tell your engineers that it works adequately and not to fiddle with it.
Then tell your scientists that you have top engineers working on the problem.

You stole my leadership handbook, didn't you? :p

@kesat: Good to hear it's sorted on how XP gains add to scientists ability in some way. Perusing the wikis taught me nothing, and the Astronaut Complex just says some garbage about scientists increasing the science gains from experiments and parts recovery.

I didn't mean my post to say that scientists are worthless, just that leveling up scientists appeared to have no value, so save those dummy seats for pilots and engineers instead. Yes, scientists are incredibly invaluable now that they can restore experimental apparatus -- OP even, you might say.

Scientists are also for manning field labs and engineers can do things with resource drills.
