Left Air breathing engine always producing less trust than right?
With a completely symmetric design, i noticed my plane always yawing to the left. Turns out my engines are producing asymmetric trust, even at sea level. The issue is compounded at higher altitudes. The left engine always cuts out first, and strangely enough, the more air intakes i have, the lower it cuts out! The right engine is operating at 100% while the other is deprived of air. Has anyone else been experiencing this weird inconsistency? Along with the inability to get any air breathing engine beyond 350 m/s, space planes have become useless!

Check your fuel lines. You should have fuel lines going from and back to every simultaneously used tank to ensure equal combustion.

I haven't noticed this myself, although I agree jets at even high altitude just can't get up to speed anymore (They could in 1.0) - Thinking about just installing FAR or customizing the drag values.

Not having this issue, maybe you just don't reach critical speed?

In my experience, once you break 400ms those rapiers are starting to go into turbo mode.

Got one plane that does break mach1 while still on the runway and just barely gets out of the thick atmosphere before the intakes are burned off, lol.

(Insanely simple design even, probe core, fuel tanks, big-s wings and fin, 5 ram intakes and 6 rapiers.)

^ I normally use 2 basic jet engines :)
Well, those aren't supposed to go all that fast :-)

The 'Whiplash' jets are the ones that get good speed.

I think I had that problem once, I just thought it was my game bugging (because of mods) but it might have been because of this.

Use IntakeBuildAid. This problem arises because if engines and intakes are placed with symmetry, 1 engine takes all the air it can from the intakes, then the second engine only gets what is left over. IntakeBuildAid re-arranges the parts in the file so that you do not get asymmetric flameouts.

Is this something that's only been happening since the 1.0x update? I've seen it on a couple of my planes since the update, but like Yxquillio above I'd just assumed it was a mod bugging out...

As far as I know it has been an issue since jet engines were added to Kerbal Space Program.

Thanks, Luckily I usually fly well below the atmospheric roof, avoiding flameouts, but it is something to remember for high altitude jets. =)

This is odd.
I've been getting symmetrical flame-outs on my jets since 1.0(.2).
As far as I'm aware, the asymmetrical flame-out issue was fixed.

Try a clean reinstall, maybe? It's what I did when 1.0 came out, and I don't have this issue you guys're having. (Including the odd "staging works in docking mode" issue. That's the weirdest of 'em all.)

I only got Kerbal When 1.0 came out, realized it would only get more expensive and that it was my last chance to get the game I have wanted for so long XD So yeah, not my install (unless it IS the mods...?)

Well I haven't started making high alt super fast jets/space planes yet since 1.0 released and I started a new save. But I do know that on the older versions one engine would cut before the other causing a tumble sending you out of control. - At that time I used mechjeb and enabled "Air intake control" or something that made sure everything ran even.

The non symmetric flameouts i always considered a feature. As long as the engines maintained even thrust until then. If your pushing the upper limits of your engines, you should have a risk of control loss. But for uneven thrust from the start and flameouts under 3000 meters? wtf?
