Kerbal Space Program

Kerbal Space Program

Everything is overheating and exploding!
OK, I'm not one to start screaming bug, but I've already read some other people here are having problems with stuff exploding, and now 2 of my space stations have also gone boom. Something is either very wrong, or maybe it's a lack of the new radiator parts, but everything is glowing red hot, and in the case of the space stations, white hot

I turned on Debug and set ignore max temp, and engaged the temp overlay to get this screenshot. The second I turned ignore max temp off it exploded. It started with one solar panel that kept getting hotter and hotter, and spread to the upper half of the station.

When I checked my other ships and stations, they're also all glowing red, and I expect a couple to also explode soon.

I don't know what's going on, if it's a bug, or if ships need the new radiator parts to stay cooled off. I actually hope it's just a bug. If I need to relaunch a bunch of ships with new radiators that's gonna set my game back bad!

1.04 readme file just said bug fix.
I think I'm going to hold off a couple days before I restart my career game and see if this is a bug or some new obsticle we all have to learn to beat.

Here too, but it's just one part failing. As it's a primary structural adaptor, I'm screwed. I hope the developers see this, but sitting on the ground with nothing running the whole ship is reading at over 300 degrees.

My station was parked in orbit behind the Mun, so I don't see how it could be the Sun with yours or mine....

Unless Kerbal has just undergone some serious global warming. And I have radiators, and even tried using some of the massive deploy ones, but in career mode at least they seem to do nothing. The temp map is useless, I can't even tell where the main problem is.

I was sitting unpowered at Kerbal and it even blew up some times then.

And the whole ship is redhot??? Why???
grandnovice Jun 23, 2015 @ 1:21pm
Actually, coming around the moon is when a lot of mine seem to fail now too. I put thermometers on the part that blew and it only said low 300s. The part is rated at 2000, why did it blow?

I just checked my Munbase. Just sitting innocently on the Mun, but also red hot. Weirdest part, it doesn't have rockets anymore! Also the Rovers. IKD why??????

Red is the temp which objects are when sitting on the surface of Kerbin not doing anything, so "redhot" doesn't say much about how hot an object is... other than possibly not hot at all.

OK, so red is normal? Because I watched the Solar panel when it heated up, it went from red to orange to yellow to white and exploded. If red is normal, the it was the solar panel that started heating up everything around it.

I just popped off a bug report to Squad, I'm gonna go make some supper and wait to see how this all plays out...

In sandbox mode, I just built a large station and placed it in solar orbit via a saved game edit, and it's been fine for over 6 minutes now.

---------------------------------------------

No matter which parts I use nor how long I use warp, I can't get objects in orbit to explode.

For instance, I put this up earlier (Sandbox, not career):

As you can see, its temperature is quite low, and it's been orbiting for over an hour.

Later, I built another non-exploding station this time using three Rockomax Brand Adaptor 02s and a 4000 capacity battery. (Again, in sandbox mode, not career)

So, I don't see any specific thing causing a problem.

Edit: consolidated multiple posts into one.

I think I'll copy my save games before starting up tonight. Where are they located and I can do this in Hard Mode?

And yet this shot through the atmosphere in a blaze of glory and safely planted a polar mapper in orbit easy and fast. But my bases and stations blow up.
