KMP: Cannot connect to friend's private server.

A friend and i havent played KSP since before 0.22. We never really had a pention for trying to play sandbox with any multiplayer mods (if they came out at the time), and thus lost interest in the game for a brief period.

As of recent, i went back to KSP to find the career mode we have been waiting for (although very early in development, we dont care). so we both downloaded KMP, and he respectively downloaded and installed the server mod for it.

according to him, he has set up the server, IP address and all, but whenever i try to connect to his server via the KMP GUI (by clicking the connect button) i get no response except a prompt saying "connecting to [insert IP address here]". If i click the connect button a second time, the menu animation freezes breifly, but then resumes moving about, but with no connection into friend's game.

i followed the Readme to the T. even reinstalled all of the .dll and replaced all the files from the first extraction with the same exact ones. turned off firewall to see if it helps, as it has in the past with other games, nada.

Can i get any hints?

Does your friend with the server have the ports for the game opened on his router?
