Can't download demo
Both my kids enjoy this game, so I waned to download the demo to try it out. However it won't let me download the demo. One of my kids had granted me permission to his games, and when I try to download the demo, it downloads the full version from HIS library rather than the demo. Unfortunatlly I can't use that version when he is using it. All I want is the demo to try it out.

you have two kids? why not just say he...you know...i bought these for you, I'm gonna play for a while.

Permission to his games:

1) you bought the computer, nor did he design the games; they're not *his* games

2) it sounds like a problem of Steam accounts. as in, steam is thinking "you've already downloaded the demo, why are you trying to download it again??"

though i could be wrong.

and in the case I am,

3) https://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/demo.php

scroll down and click up the space capsule thingy with the windows icon

thar's your demo

Are you trying to download the demo on one of your kids' accounts or on your own Steam account? I checked myself, and it won't let me download the demo now that I own the full game. Maybe that's the problem you're encountering. However the link above should get you the demo outside of Steam.

If either of them has the full game, you won't be able to try the demo. You will need to make a Steam account for yourself (which I would assume you already have) if you want the demo, or you can download the non-steam demo.

1) I have my own account, so no, not working under their account.

2) HE did purchase the game himself, so no, I don't own it.

3) I ended up having him remove me and my computer from his family shareing list, and that seemed to do the trick.

Thanks all.

It must be that if you share an account with someone, you cant try any demos of any games they own. Which seems silly to me. I can see that on the same account, but sharing accounts is different. Steam should change that.

You probably could have downloaded it from outside steam without having to be "removed".

PS: welcome to the community :)
