Ladder needs to be added WAAAY Earlier to Career
I mean come on .. a ladder. I've put a kerbin on the moon but we can't figure out a ladder?

I'm getting tired of fumbling to jump around and catch latches to try and get back on board.

PLEASE fix this. Its a no brainer.

Dammit... Does noone actually have a single clue of how advanced a technology ladders actually are???

PS. Should be a way to mingle with the tech tree ;)

This isn't Mass Effect, there is no romance option.

I meant by altering the savegame file. Or... Some othere, I dunno. Have always been quite content with the current tree.

Edit; Go to your savegames, in the KSP folder; select the campaign you want to alter; open the CFG file called ''tree'' with a wordpad, or something; your parts are called under the ''node'' tabs. Cut-paste your ladders to an earlier node of your liking, and there you are!!

I hate the order parts unlock, makes little to no sense. Probably one of the reasons I mostly play sandbox mode.

I wish they would make science parts work in sandbox, so you can use them. They dont have to give points, just work. So you can still roleplay with the parts and use them. Or better yet, in sandbox you get points toward a mission score, rather than science points.

Treeloader[forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com] lets you change your tech tree. You can also do that directly with ModuleManager. Then you can post that proposed tech tree so other people can enjoy it.

You can alternately edit CFGs on your copy, but can't share those. Better to do it with MM.

There's still something to be said for having a stock tech-tree that makes sense and has some basic fun-stuff unlocked at the start. Rover wheels and basic aircraft parts would be nice to have early.

It's a little known fact, but, even though we've had rockets since the 13th century, ladders were only invented in 1985. Kerbal Space Program is one of the few remaining bastions of media that haven't been perverted by Big Ladder and it's propaganda machine. Not only should the unlocks stay as they are, I take offense that you would try to push such revisionist evil upon one of the last holdouts of historical truthliness! Who are you working for?!
RLeeErmey 15 ABR 2014 a las 5:19 p. m.
what??? ladders have been around since the siege of castles and keeps.. and before then I'm sure..
Athywren 15 ABR 2014 a las 5:44 p. m.
Nope, people scaled walls with catapults. It's only Big Ladder's revisionist history lessons that make people believe they used them before 1985. I don't know... some people will believe anything! I bet you even believe that stairs existed before last tuesday? Pff!

Or how interplanetary flight was invented before the internal combustion engine.

Im still not sure why you need Ladders for any mission to the Mun or Min... Geez if you just tap your Jetpback you almost fly off Min.

seems like everyone keeps missing the point, that Ladders should be a basic tech, and Jet Packs shouldn't be, not that you need leadders necessarily.

You can also edit the specific part cfg itself the will be a line that says what tech is required to unlock it change that to what one you like and save it (back- up old part cfg)

maybe he is not good at jet-packing and I do agree ladders seem like they would be there from the get go, granted they are SPACE ladders but still.

also if you are they guy that takes all his data from your lander and takes it to another pod then ladders are GREAT you place a ladder off to the side of your lander with all the science parts next to the ladder then you can EVA to the ladder and then just climb up and down as you collect all the data out of the equipments, much easier (If not faster) than EVA dancing all around the place collect data. you can see that here the ladder has the goo cans, gravioli, thermometer ect ect all very near it

Agreed... and,
I'm hoping that once they are closer to finalizing the game that they will look at reorganizing the tech tree and the parts layout in the VAB. Both these need some serious reworking.

Yup, jetpacks are the way to go for the Mun and Minmus. No big deal, but not very logical.
Optimus Princeps 15 ABR 2014 a las 10:59 p. m.
I always put ladders on my craft but never actually use them lol idk why you think the jet packs are so hard I cruise around like crazy usually grabbing two land samples on my early mun jumps. But I guess in a ways I agree altho it sure is a silly thing to complain about lol Ladders arent really my main focus early on and neither are most the things that come with it. I am usually going for more power early on...not ladders haha. Funny story I just got this game not to long ago but at first I had no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue I had a jet pack. When I would eva while in orbit my heart would stop as I thought that if my dude fell I would drift off in space. My first mun landing I tipped my craft but still made it but after spent like 8 mins trying to jump on top to board........ I guess its funny to me atleast now that I look back and how easy it really is
