Some help needed with asteroids
So how do these actually work? I got to the tracking station, zoom out until I can see a few (?) icons. If I click on any of these, it just shows me some info about their class, size, etc... but I can't seem to "track" them, or see their trajectory, or anything.

I built a probe with the new huge parts and sent it into solar orbit, with the assumption that I'd be able to "somehow" (hadn't really thought that part ought yet) try to rendevous with an asteroid, but I can't target them or anything and just get the option to view them in the tracking station when clicking on them.

I'm obviously missing something, can someone help me understand what it is?

The track button is in the bottom left (a dish icon).

In the tracking station, not map view, click on an Unknown Object

After you have done that, in the lower left corner, click the blue "Track Object" button.

Asteroid will now be identified. Hit tab a few times without deselecting until you are targetting Kerbin. You will know know roughly where the asteroid will go inside the SOI.

Put a ship into orbit, wait for asteroid to enter Kerbin SOI, rendevouze, slow the asteroid down into a stable orbit, reap the profits, send it spiraling into the VAB.

I have no idea how I didn't see that "track" button before hand. Anyhow, now that I'm able to track them I managed to do a fly-by of one

My attempt to intercept it around Kerbin didn't really work that well though and I ended up having to go into solar orbit and chase it round the other end of the sun before finally catching up with it, but that's probably keeping with the spirit of the game :-)
