"The upper limit of reputation is 1000. The points actually obtained for a contract decrease exponentially as the level gets nearer to the limit so a player will never reach it."
According to the wiki, If you're trading science for rep, at 100%, you should be getting approx 2 points for every 1 unit of 'contract reward' science, and 1 point for every 55-or-so units of 'field' science.
Missions tend to give pretty worthless 'contract reward' science values. Assuming we're talking field science, to get 300 rep points you'd have to be bring in about 16,000 science points.
If it's the other way around, and you're bringing in 300 science, you'll be getting about 5.5 rep.
Hardly seems worth it really... Surely that can't be right? I'm just saying what I see on the wiki.
OK, I hope this will clear things up a bit.
When I started the new game. I maxed out Science Rewards, and Fund Rewards(ONLY). *I'm new at this.
So, it didn't take very long to get enough science to purchase the Science for Rep, AND Money for Rep, contracts at the admin building.
100% of my funds are converted to Rep, and 100% of any Science I do gets converted to rep, but its not much.
So, I now get an average of +300 rep per large contract...IE:I did the Challange mision for 1,200 -1,500 rep.
However my rep seems to be staying pretty close to 950-970?
I'm a bit confused, as the Tick-mark at the top of the page,(which, incidently doesn't SAY what your rep IS.), is barely moving towards the blue..inperceptively so. There seems to be a whole new color (Blue and white stipes?), that I can't get to. :(

My Rep changes (if any), are not being displayed.
Have I missed something? Should I be able to at least get to the Blue, and light blue stripes in rep?
I have just completed two similar missions, worth about 1,500 total rep...but I'm stil stuck with 96%. :(
Is the cap, the blue and light blue stripes, or the top of that?
Does it just quit, or get harder(As I understand it.).
Thanks Migz-DH,
96% but who's counting. :) So, I guess that "Cash for rep" is pretty usless as by the time you can afford that, it does nothing for you?
I guess, if I failed a few dozen missions it would come in handy.
I actually cancelled the "Money for Rep" contract, and I'm actually getting MORE rep per mission. Still, there is the limit of course.
*OK, maybe thats just me. I don't get out much.
More contract offers. My career game I'm at 85%, and as it's gone up, so has the number of available contracts. At the beginning of the game I only had maybe 3-4 offers at a time, now I average 15 contract offers, sometimes 16. This lets me accept all the big "Explore where-ever" contracts and still have a few left over for easy money contracts like tourists or satellites.
Also, like I think someone already mentioned, the payoffs seem to be increasing as well.
