[1.0.5] Wonky Offset Tool
Before the 1.0.5 patch, the offset tool basically let me offset parts freely within a specific distance from the attached root part. The only limit being how far I can offset from the part.

Now however, it seems to be a bit "snappy" and won't let me put attached parts exactly where I'd like them to be; appearing to be limited no longer just by the distance but the hitbox aswell. For example, offsetting the wings slightly above a plane's centerline makes it go inwards. Trying to offset landing gear a bit higher than when directly placed on the surface (to achieve a streamline look) also forces it to be offset to the left/right a bit and it's rather irritating.

Yes I've tried disabling angle snapping, checked if I'm doing everything in mirrored mode, tried to build with a 100% stock copy of KSP, tried pressing [F] to see if it did anything and all that.

Is it just me or is there anybody else facing this issue? I've tried a fresh copy of KSP as well but this snappy offset thing seems to stay.

I used to have issues like that prior to 1.05, but I don't use the offset tools very much. Maybe it is something fixed in the stock bug fix modules Claw maintains in the addons part of the official KSP forums? They fix things Squad is still working on and often end up implemented in the vanilla game (like the new parachute color changes for safe deployment). The Plus stuff is optional.

You remembered to turn off angle snapping didn't you?

Of course I have. Normally when I offset parts for example, I drag the vertical arrow and it ONLY moves vertically; it never tries to go any other direction.

Ever since 1.0.5, parts want to move horizontally towards the root part when I only want to offset something vertically.

I noticed that too. Adjust one way and it's fine, try to adjust the other axis, and it jumps back on the previous axis. Don't know how many parts are affected, but it seems like it's not all of them as some still behave like before.

I've not noticed this but have noticed the snappy behaviour others have mentioned that existed in prior versions.

You could try this mod and see if it helps...
