Kerbal Space Program

Is there a way to see Action Groups in flight?
I'm not talking about editing action groups, or assigning actions to a certain group.

All I want is to be able to see what each number will do when pressed, without having to press it. I've got a lot of vehicles in long missions all over the place, and it is no longer possible to memorize everything.

There's nothng that I'm aware of that will let you do that in the current game build. Hopefully the devs are adding that to 1.0.5 when it's released. What I do is use a standard set for the hotkeys, otherwise I just press a key and see what happens. Don't do that for parachurtes though there's no way to un-deploy them.

Action Groups Extended has such feature, however it also allows editing and assigning actions in flight (but you don't need to use that other feature if you only want to display actions).

The problem comes when you have many different rovers, bases, landers, trucks, rockets, pods, and spaceplanes. It is extremely hard to remember each once the count goes over 100.

Yes, for every plane N1 is the brakes, but everything gets confusing once solar panels, lighting, multiple ladders, legs, air intakes, engine management, spoilers, trimming, cargo bays and science equipment get involved. :steamsad:

From like day one I have wanted such a super useful feature. Cannot understand why it never got implemented. Even with mods.

A modest, toggleable "checklist" would do.

I agree, I'd even like to be able to see the comments you can add in the space-plane hangar. It woulodn't be a problem for the devs to add that to the information button on the map screen. Another trick that I have is to couple some items with the buttons. The abort key for example is almost never used so I tie it to my landing engines, and I also couple the solar panels with the lights. I usually never think about mods because I don't use them.

I have a looseleaf notebook I keep all my important ship's action keys logged in, in case I forget.

So I tried that Action Groups Extended Mod. It is extermely complex and somewhat difficult to use. It tries to be a lot of things to a lot of people and that makes it too customizable for its own good. Still can't use it properly :(

Can you remember the name of that mod? I've been looking for it for a while (used to have it)... Pretty sure there's probably at least a few of my screenshots showing the drives.

I'd like to know that too. That AGE mod is buggy and not what I was looking for.

Didn't B9 have that info drive part? Its been a while since I used it but I *think* it was in there. In Utilities section maybe, small part that let you type whatever into an info box you could call up in flight. Something like that anyway.

*edit: Downloaded mod and I see it in the list of parts. Utilities/InfoDrive. Didn't install it though..... ** Good luck!

if you edit the save files use "find" to find the vessell then use "find" to find the part and look for "ACTIONS" and under this you will find "actiongroup = x" where x is the action group #
