I think its more to do with the fact that since the game has officialy released, there have been at least 3 or 4 updates that completely changed the way the game functions. And I cant stand doint the same things over and over agian.
I'd like to see a version of career mode where you are simply encouraged to do more with less. instead of busywork.
what about the re-entry heat. I dont understand it even those heat shields the whole thing is confusing, I spend time reading articles and watching utube videos, but for a game like this there should definitly be a stradegy guide. Not to help you cheat, but to explain in detail and laymans terms the entire game. I would pay 60 dollars for a guide that just explained how the parts interact with the games mechanics and so on.
I want to build moonbases, send manned missions to Mars, and all those other things that the real NASA never gets to do because some ♥♥♥♥ in a power tie tells them there's no profit in it.
I play science mode with a mod that unlocks all the parts! I want to build what I want when I want, but I love the feeling of conducting science and recording the results for posterity. That's my dream space program, one that is only concerned with the spirit of adventure and furthering scientific knowledge.
its not hard in any way. what you need is a heatshield at the bottom and enough torque to keep the shield pointed to retrograde. this means you will need some power if your rocket design makes your rocket turn while in atmosphere. look at the pod designs and how their weight is distributed, this makes there bottow stay in the front when it breaks in atmosphere.
if you return from an orbit, set your periapsis to around 40km, you will want a rather shallow entry with plenty of time to stay in the atmosphere to break. if this manoveur doesnt de orbit you, take another round, precedure should repeat until you apoapsis is also in atmosphere.
depending on your size and weight, you may also take a lower periaps for faster breaking but aerostresses (and explosions) increase.
Never play Creative in Minecraft.
Never do Infinit-Money stuff in City Builders, or other similar games, etc...
The minute career mode came out, i dropped sandbox instantly ( though I still use it for forum challanges and testing new ideas). I just love the progression, the struggles, and the limits of career mode.
But KSP is awesome like that, 3 modes that can cover pretty much every way anyone wants to play. For everything else, theres 50 freakin tons of mods.
Persoanly I LOVE career mode! I can be happy for long time in sandbox...but after 2k+hrs played I like career for the purpose it gives ya.
i will admit...sometimes the start of a new career game can drag on a bit, BUT there is a sloution to this.
OP...try these few things on career game, see if they increase your enjoyment.....
When starting a new game you can adjust MANY options. For a 'quick start' career playthrough change the following:
Max starting money...$500k at the start lets you upgrade couple facilitys right off the bat. I would suggest doing the Mission control (there ya take contracts), the VAB and launchpad.
Next start with 250-300 science...this will let you open several tech nodes and get ya some more parts. With 250 starting science you can get the parts to make orbit your FIRST flight.
I dont have an issue with the heating so I run at 100%...but even taking it down to 90% makes heat ALOT more managable.
Science and $ gains at 110%, reputation gains at 120%....
This will increase the 'pace' of career mode a bit so to speak...you will spend very little time on/near Kerbin, and get to exploring the moonsa and past alot sooner....but not so fast that it makes those huge science trips feel rewarding for unlocks.
Last thing you ABSOLUTLY want to do is put 'decline penalty' from ONE to ZERO!!!!!!!
If you do this you can decline as many contracts in the MC building as you like. Here is why that is SO important. The way MC works is they will show so many contracts based on parts you have unlocked and current reputation. THIS IS A HARDCODED VALUE. So if you decline cantracts to BELOW this value new ones will pop-up.
I NEVER do silly part test or other such missions...esp on/near kerbin in a career mode like this. This lets you cherry pick the really good missions and still have a full docket most the time.
