how do i get fuel tanks
i was playing but i saw there was no fuel tanks and all my kerbals died and i din't have the money for more and started a new one but before i start help

They will appear under the fuel tab in the VAB and hangar when you unlock them with the basic rocketry tech.
At the start of career however you only have access to the flea, a solid rocket booster (SRB) that is a combined thruster and fuel tank in one part.

If you want a progressive style of play (unlocking parts as you go) without the hastle of money, play science mode. You could also play sandbox but having everything available when you don't know what it does is a little daunting.

To unlock liquid fuel tanks in the Vehicle Assembly Building, you must first acquire science points by doing experiments on the ground and in space around Kerbin. With these science points, you buy technologies in the Research & Development building of your Space Centre. The technology tree in the R&D centre shows you which parts you will unlock with each technology.

For an explanation of how to do science, check out this link. The details may be slightly outdated but it's mostly correct.

For beginners it is best to play science mode first imho.
