ok, building airplanes is ridiculously frustrating
just threw away a whole wing with hand crafted elevons cause they dont ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ snap into place when i was trying to turn off angle snap.

i wish more complete wings were available, other than delta wing and bigger.

oh, trying to place fixed landing gear was one of the dumbest things i have ever seen
while simultaniously literally fighting the camera for control.

Control+Z is your friend when you make a mistake or when the game messes up.

But I agree, the restrictions on building in the VAB and Hangar combined with the camera setup is very frustrating. It needs to be more dynamic and freeform-friendly.

a snap lift to center of gravity would be nice too. zooming in to the max and trying to use the camera controls while surgically placing wings makes no sense if the flaps arent all perfect.
losing the whole damn thing really sucked.

i'll remember ctrl z, ty

Use B9 procwings and Adjustable Landing Gear.

havent unlocked adv aviations yet, or adv landing for that matter

built a twin engine swept wing. kinda F14 ish

Well, at least keep in mind that with both those mods you'll be able to make any wing of any size and shape and have a lot more control over landing gear height, angle, position and even suspension.

Also you can fine tune everything to the millimeter by disabling snap and using the offset tool.

I use to place my wings and the use the offset tool, with angelsnap turned off and while holding shift you can precisly move them arround to the place you want. And for the Landinggear I turn my whole plane upside down, makes it easier for the camera.

Well, first off I end up disabling functions (usually roll) from a fair number of the control surfaces. I'll see if I can find or make a nice screenie showing a good drag lift readout in the hanger.

Here’s a simple aircraft. The original variant I made very early on in my new career.

This craft by its nature banks into turns and that where you need to be the pilot.

Keeping your lift up and back from the center of mass you can make some odd aircraft. Also, though you can't desplay it, keep your areas of drag behind the center of mass. Here mine are also like the center of lift, up and back.

Save multiple copies of a craft once you get one that works okay. That way if you screw up you have one to go back to.

is there a command im missing that would make building wings a whole lot easier?
am i supposed to make the wings, and then individually add flaps?
i tried making a perfect wing section and perfect flaps and copy pasting it but when i paste it is inverted on the other side.

i completely gave up on my twin engine setup as there is no snap.

i really dont understand why i need to SHIFT+WSDSEEEWSEQWWSEEWESQESAEWSAESWQESSAEEWWESSWQSSESSWE

You're using WAY too much wing. For a plane that size, one set of deltas should be all you need.

Or, rather, you're carrying too much fuel. I doubt you need 3-6 hours of flight time.

it looks pretty good, i dont see where the down force is coming from

lol, you dont think i tried deltas?

also, i have a LOT of flying to do. so far, to misquote edison, ive learned a few thousand ways not to fly. im not looking for a supersonic, i want to get to a few places to EVA
Ottomic Oct 17, 2015 @ 12:23pm
That "down force" is your center of lift, if you mean the blue arrow.

Not sure what you're trying to do with the concave wings. If having to arrange them like that bothers you, just make them horizontal.

Good, because you aren't going supersonic with the basic jet.

Anyway, how far are we talking? The deltas are enough for 1 tank.
