Kerbal Space Program

The Game need a Docking Cam
I like it to build big stations around the planets. But the camera options are so horrorable and useless for the docking part of the game. It would be so nice, to have a view directly straight on from the docking part to the target.

the nav ball tells you everything..
set your target and do "control from here" on your vessel's port , and you can stare at the nav ball the entire time.. RCS in the direction you need to keep your prograde on the target . I do it with SAS on, but don't lock on prograde or target .. allow prograge to drift off the target and respond with the RCS.

you can easily come in head-on that way, but also can setup trickier stuff, like sliding in from the side..

that said, I'm not against a docking cam, but you should be looking at the nav ball, imo :)

I found something on youtube, but this download isnt available yet. It was a link from the game-website. And i am asking me, why they dont implement it in the game, why as mod?

It's not a docking cam, but I would recommend you try the Docking Port Alignment mod.

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/40423-10x-docking-port-alignment-indicator-version-62-updated-05042015/

The first video on that page is a quick rundown of what the mod does and how you use it. And uh, that's...really all there is. It's a simple and small mod but it makes docking so much easier once you get the hang of it. No need to fiddle with camera angles.

[To the kind peeps who suggested the great mod:]

Not everyone likes to play with mods. There are alot of people out there who want to play vanilla only. I am one of these. It's a curse, I know.

Well your loss. Not every developer wastes their time doing stuff that already exists as a mod.

The docking port alignment isn't one of those mods that drastically change the gameplay, it only makes docking easier :)

Can you target a specific docking port? Can you see if the targeted docking port is on the far side of the station (space VOR?)?

Maybe they had those feature planned anyway and the modders just beat them to it, maybe they want as much in there as possible to not dissappoint again like they did with MinerWars, maybe they should actually focus on their base game and let mods be mods.

Squad also did include some mods, and hired some modders to do this. They also did get some complaints e.g. for "wasting time" on planes, with people going It's called Space program, I care only about rockets, they should focus on that.

To not look like I'm just trolling, what I'm saying is: You say you want to play vanilla, but vanilla has no docking cam. Just as it has no detailed info on delta-v or other stuff that goes more into "in-depth simulation" territory. That's what mod support is for, and in my opinion there's not much sense in including extras when there's perfectly fine mods for that. Especially not now when they still have their hands full with getting everything into the shape they want it to be.
