Center of lift too far away!
Hi!, I'm building a "basic" place (mk1 cockpit, wings, fuel, engine, air intake, the long tail, wheels and a couple of experiment mods on it.
My problem is that the center of lift is WAY behind the center of mass, and once in the air, it's very hard to control the plane... I still can land without crashing at the island airport, though...
I tried to put the wings more ahead so the center of lift could still be behind the center of mass but not at the other side of kerbin. =P
The problem is that the "wings", are now right at the top of the cockpit. O.O
I'm thinking of adding "something" to the rear so it can add weight and the center of mass could be more at the back.. but I'm out of ideas. =/

Leave wings BACK, add CANARDS/WINGLETS forward to move the CoL

Or rotate wings back (as on fighter). Engine ignore wings profile anyway. Also may rotate wings and canards itself in vertical plane (forward side up-down), this also move (and revert even) CoL.

I agree. The AV-R8 winglet makes an excellent and cheap early canard. Along with moving your center of lift closer to the center of mass, it makes takeoff much easier and gives more stable pitch control.

Thanks!!!!, will try that!. My plane... "flies"... but it's impossible to manouver without SAS.
I always wanted to make big bomber aircraft and stuff but I've found stuff like the plane below to be by far the best. She handles like a dream and flys extremely fast. Planes don't have to be big and bulky for them to do their job. Just keep that in mind when you build.
