Crashing in hanger
It's happening more and more often now, but when I'm making a ship and I remove something temporarily (perhaps to extend my rocket or work under my solid feul thrusters), when I try to move it back, my game will crash (infrequently). I can start the game, go in and make a change and insta-crash, other times I will make an entire ship and it will crash when I'm peicing it together causing me to lose it (yay...).

Anyone else having this issue?

Post a crash log. You'll find them in the dated subdirectories in the KSP main directory. Feel free to dump it in the thread.

That's the same problem I am having unfortunately.

An even larger problem is the fact you folks experiencing problems don't provide any sort of information about your game and system. Saying "game crash" does nothing to help yourself or others who might be experiencing a similar problem. Do you have mods installed? Have you tried to reinstall and start fresh? Did you have mods before the reinstall? Did you remove them properly? Have you verified the integrity of the game cache? What operating system do you use? What are your computer specifications? Is this a save file created from before version 1.1? Have you tried a new save file? Would you be able to provide a detailed step by step breakdown of what causes the crash so others could try those steps to see if it crashes their game as well? Would you consider yourself wise or dumb when it comes to computers? There's probably about 100 other questions that will lead to more questions, then maybe a solution. Simply mentioning the crash does nothing to help anyone, including yourself. It could be your antivirus software or heat issues. Maybe a conflicting touch screen....the list of maybes goes on forever if you can't provide any details about your game, experience and computer. Toastie Buns mentioned the log file....that right there could go a very long way if you really needed or wanted help. If you're just here to complain or say "game crash", you're wasting everyone's time.

At this stage I'm just copy pasting the post I made.

....I'm almost half tempted to post MY OWN crash log in a bold attempt to break the taboo of posting crash logs. Unfortunately that would serve nobody.

using v1.1 no mods still crashing about 6-7 mins into the game

Exaclty same problem, no logs about crash in game folder, no window with crash info. Game just disappears from screen.

This is how I tried to find crash files:
[mibcadet@devos Kerbal Space Program]$ ls -a
. buildID.txt CSteamworks.dll GameData Internals KSP.log KSP.x86 Launcher_Data Launcher.x86_64 PartDatabase.cfg Physics.cfg Plugins Resources Screenshots Ships steam_api64.dll thumbs
.. CSteamworks.bundle fontconfig Icons KSP_Data KSP_x64_Data KSP.x86_64 Launcher.x86 LICENSE.md Parts PluginData readme.txt saves settings.cfg sounds steam_api.dll
[mibcadet@devos Kerbal Space Program]$ find ./* -iname crash
[mibcadet@devos Kerbal Space Program]$ find ./**/* -iname crash
[mibcadet@devos Kerbal Space Program]$ find ./*/*/* -iname crash
[mibcadet@devos Kerbal Space Program]$ find ./* -iname /*crash*/
[mibcadet@devos Kerbal Space Program]$ find ./* -print0 | grep -FzZ ‘/*crash*/’

No files found but game crashes after few minutes of playing.
My PC:
Intel i5 4590
8GB DDR3 GoodRam 1600 CL9
Gigabyte GTX960 Windforce 4GB
Mainboard Gigabyte B85-v3
SSD Drive: Samsung Evo850 250GB (with Windows 10) and Sandisk 250GB with Arch Linux
Silentium PC Vero M1 600W

OS: I have launched game on Windows 10 Pro and Arch Linux. Both with latest nvidia drivers.

If you'd be kind enough to attach a debugger to the process we can start generating our own throw/catch system for whatever is crashing you. Seems people genuinely aren't getting the .log files, whowuddathunkit.
Shmoua May 7, 2016 @ 4:43am
@Toastie Bun any suggestion how to attach debugger on linux? I am currently working on sth and cant go windows for few hours but no problem to launch game in background.
Toastie Buns May 7, 2016 @ 4:59am
Sorry dude, Linux ain't my forte. I seem to remember DDD being pretty much the same as your standard windows debugger, but it's been a long time since I've had to use Linux in general. I can barely remember command lines.

(I do remember that you can set please as an alias to sudo and it'll work for anyone :P)

I'll google it at any free moment. I tried use gdb but game gets blank black screen so I cant say it will be right crash log. I should bring some updated info today.

this prevented me playing the game yesterday.. VAB and SPH were both crashing alot before with symmetry, but now it crashes just putting a mk1 pod as the first part.. trying re-install / full reload of mods 1by1 etc..

Generally (in my experience at least) it's best to start with the general question. If other people have the same issue and already have the solution then it's done and over with. If noone else is suffering with it OR don't have a solution, that's generally when I would post computer specs, mods and crash log. Instantly posting your other "100" questions for something that might have a quick and simple fix seems overzealous to start this off. Because I'm a fairly casual gamer (at least with this game) people usually have solutions well before I experience the issue at all. Doing a google search didn't yield any results so I posted a general thread to work out the issue.

Combine that with the fact that not everyone knows there is a crash log file and you have how this thread was made. So don't give me your condecending crap. If you want something from me, just ask, you don't need to talk down to me like I'm a moron.

Also there is no crash log. The last ones I have are from 2015.

Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Processor: AMD FX(tm)-670K Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.7GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

I have Mechjeb and Kerbal Engineer Redux installed

I have tried to launch game not via steam, but directly with KSPx86_64 file. 4 hours game works atm, no crash...
I assume problem is with 32bit version, but ofcourse it may just be in my case.
J128MM May 7, 2016 @ 9:33am
Gathose. Which version of mechjeb? Which version of KER? Are you using the latest version of KSP? Are the parts that come along with those mods attached to the craft when the game crashes? Have you tried removing the mods? Have you tried removing the parts? If you'd prefer, I could go back and ask these questions one by one and this can take all week. Every question asked is a general question. It's a big guessing game without a crash log. Don't take it as condecending...proof to what I've said is all over this forum. I could just assume what your problem is and send you on your way with a guess....or I can ask 100 questions and try to get the bottom of it. The questions are necessary when someone is reluctant to describe their problems in detail.

So far, after all of these words....all we have are you system specs, which mods you use, and a vague description of crash instances. If you don't feel like answering the questions, nobody can help. You could ask yourself those questions and go on your own trying to problem solve if that's more your style.
