(Linux) Land is missing/black, unrelated to AA
I have fglrx and since 1.1 I'm using -force-gfx-direct to get the game running, but there's another issue: every time I head to launchpad, the ground textures vanish to reveal a black void underneath. The linux thread suggests this is an issue with antialiasing on fglrx and catalyst, but turning that on or off makes no difference at all.

However: I noticed that if I close the game and verify local files, a single file is replaced. Then when I go back to the game, ground is visible around KSC until I try to launch again and it disappears, which apparently corrupts the file again.

Is there any workaround for this, or is it unheard of? Trying to do a search for it always just brings me to old results about the AA problem.

Try starting KSP with the -force-glcore Unity command line argument, or try proprietary drivers if you are using Nvidia or AMD.

./KSP.x86_64 -force-glcore

If that fails try.

./KSP.x86_64 -force-gfx-direct

The first command fix the problem. Thank you!

Hm... thanks, that (mostly) worked.

The game wouldn't start with only that command but if I use:

./KSP.x86_64 -force-glcore -force-gfx-direct

it starts and the ground (so far) survives using the launchpad. There does seem to be at least one weird side effect so far: the KSC is casting shadows on the ground in weird places (and apparently from weird angles) around the base. Not quite as problematic as an invisible ground though, so I'll keep testing and see if it grows any extra limbs or anything.

If you use -force-glcore then you shouldn't need -force-gfx-direct ;)

I tried it by itself but the game won't start with only -force-glcore. It does the same black screen followed by crash as it does if I try to launch it from steam.
