Data transmission not generating science...am I doing something wrong?
I have a basic communotron 16, as well as thermometer, barometer, science jr and goo. I did a fly by of the mun, and realized on the way back that I forgot to put a decoupler on the final portion of the rocket, meaning it's doomed to explode. SO I transmitted the science I gathered since the rocket's doomed anyways, but I didn't get any science from it. Am I missing something?

And these were my first experiments near the mun; at 30-40% efficiency it said it'd get me a total of about 80 science; got nada.

Did you click on the antenna or on the module with the data? You need to click on the module with the data, click 'review data' and then click the transmit button there. That'll get you the science.

Did you bring enough electric charge to transmit it all at once? Like EBannion said, try sending them one at a time. There's also a setting on the antenna that alllows you to send a partial report if you run out of electric.

I've got the electricity to do it; I chose 'transmit data' from each science module individually. I'll try using the antenna next time...just seems odd that it'd let me transmit and then fail to transmit, even though I've got enough electricity

how much power do u have?
manollette Apr 28, 2016 @ 4:14pm
About 90% of a Mk I command pod's worth.

not enough need about 200 to transmit everything

Really? Damn. Poor Valentina died for nothing.

how did she die?

Only reasaon I was trying to transmit was because I realized I was going to just bring everything back to Kerbin but I forgot to incorporate a decoupler below my heat shield. Only way I was going to re-enter was with 6 fuel tanks and 3 engines attached to my science modules & command pod. The mission was doomed from the start.

u can re enter with them, or do aerobraking and jetoson the heat shild
manollette Apr 28, 2016 @ 4:59pm
Jettisoning the heat shield resulted in the remaining parts spiraling and exploding at 50,000m while keeping everything attached was even worse. Didn't have airbrakes or anything; this is almost all at the 90 science and below research level, and because I insist on taking every science module with on every trip, I almost always have too much weight to make it. Still haven't managed to land on & also depart the mun.

Don't worry, she'll be back.

Valentina's death will not be in vain, for Valentina Mk II will be improved from her mistakes.
