It's a robotic control unit for any rocket/spacecraft. You could compare it to the capsule you start with, but there's no Kerbal inside (so no crew reports), it requires power to work, it has different mass and torque values. Maybe there's a couple more, but those are the main ones

As for why you would use it, it's somewhat cheaper and you can use it for one way missions if you don't want to strand Kerbals in space or on moons or planets.

Thanks a lot!! Now i know what to do. I really appreciate it. So, if i wanted to, I could send it deep into space just as long it has power and submite Science with it?

Well, not exaclty, science does not really work that way. It's a limited thing. You might want to read this science tutorial.[wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com]

I launched ONE of these with ion drive and nuclear engine to Jool. Explored every moon in that system (orbit contract, science) and got in close to Jool as well where it's now in permanent orbit. Lots of science, money, etc...

It can help you with missions that dont really require a Kerbal to kill hehe

As mentioned above...It is like a kerbal saver.Use it instead of a manned capsule.I use it for satillites and testing and such.
