Kerbal Space Program

Kerbal Space Program

Most Expensive Ship?
So far my most expensive craft has been a rocket carrying two probe landers to Ike and Duna. Cost me about 135k funds to launch, and the mission payout was over 700% of that.

What's the most expensive LEGIT rocket you've made in the new career mode using funds you earned in-game?

240k for a rocket to carry the engine nacelle for my Duna mission. If something is worth doing, it's worth OVER doing! :Khappy:
With the small reward for the Duna mission I'm never going to be in the green. Bloated government spending at its finest!

It put landers on four Joolian moons and the Mastership made orbit around tylo. Ended up earning about 5 million in funds.

my most expensive ship couldnet be build in career mode because it costs over 320 mio funds to be build and uses the the interstellar mod, mechjeb 2.0, a mod with some weapons and the near future mods. (ok its need to be launched in 3 or 4 flights, but even a 100mio flight is expensive)

Honestly I have never constructed such monstrocities as I tend to lose interest and restart my careers before leaving the Kerbin SOI. I think my biggest was about 450,000 to send a very large solar array to my LKO space station.

I once sent a mission to sarnus in the outer planets mod with a hangar containing a lander and a satellite for each moon, and an interplanetary communication satellite for sarnus because of remotetech. Set me back almost 2 million from memory, and that was without the 450 tonnes of fuel I launched to meet it (in one launch because I was getting impatient). I don't remember whether the ship or the fuel launcher was more expensive
Only mods I used extensively in it were KW rocketry and dozens of little KER parts, one for each ship
Really the only limit to ship cost is how much you're willing to grind on generic contracts before you launch

Oh yeah and also I forgot about OPT spaceplane parts, which I built most of my ship with, and for anyone who doesn't use OPM, sarnus has about 6 moons as far as I remember

In the career game I'm playing now, this is easily my most expensive beast:

It's a skycrane system for launching large bases and space stations, and comes in at just over 500,000. I lost money putting one in orbit over Kerbin, but contracts for space stations and bases further than the Mun still make me a halfway decient profit.

when i have some time i will make a screenshot of that ship, by the way the most expensive parts on that ship are:
the one 5m antimatter core with three 5m antimatter container,
the four 1,5m antimatter core with five 1,5m antimatter container each,
the 3,75m alcubierre drive
and the argon fueled ATLIA thruster.
(mods: the interstellar mod, mechjeb 2.0, BDArmory v0.8.3 and the near future mods)
