Mining Excavator refuses to work (ksp 1.2 prerelease)
I have been enjoying the new KSP 1.2 Prerelease for some time now without any issues until tonight. Both mining excavators refuse to work. I have used them just fine before in KSP 1.2. When I went to make a mobile mining and refueling vehicle I run into a problem. The regular mining excavators give me the no ground contact error and the mining excavator juniors give me the insufficient power error. I am testing out the vehicle off the runway next to the KSC where there is about 6.5% ore concentration.

I have tried various configurations for the excavators so they will go into the surface at different depths but still no joy. Also my craft has 5 of the largest batteries and many of the largest solar panels and I still get the insufficient power error. I have tried using wheels, no wheels, and landing legs for support but the issue remains.

I have googled this issue and haven’t been able to find anything on there or this forum. Sorry if this is a bit lengthy. I appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thank you.

Based on the original picture; Ore tanks was probably the issue. As you have added them since.. well.. Just broken during patch. I also noticed after patch that my Heat Shields no longer lost ablator during re-entry. Could have been an odd bug with mine as I haven't tried since I verified files.

Jesus christ, people, really? The drill says "No surface contact". It was never an issue about power, control or ore tanks. But it's good to have absolutely EVERY information about mining in one thread.

Well this bug is rather annoying. But hay, pre release right? Right now half my Kerbals are stranded various places do to no ground contact. See if rolling back a patch might get them gas and home.

Duh, of course that would not work. Older version can not read the newer version save file. Looks like my Kerbals are stuck for the time being.
