I just left the Kerbol system to visit other Stars (Mods) :)

Today I started a long journey to visit the Antares star system: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/141383-112-antares-solar-system/
I've built a Hecs - II space probe and managed it to get an encounter with Antares. It has ~ 12000 Δv in total (only stock parts) and I used two gravity assists on Eve and Jool. Hecs - II just entered the deep space hibernation phase and now I just have to wait ~ 3200 years until the probe is in the SOI of the Antares system. :D Is anyone planning to do a similar mission? Let me know.

Fingers crossed that everything is going according to plan.

The Antares mod was supposed to be a binary star system, but it's just a planet replaced with a small star orbiting a bigger star. :/ Would also be cool to add black holes into KSP.

you have a point in this type of orbit kerbol would turn around a invisble center of mass but it would be hard to reach a star in anogther orbit around a galaxy. and it would take alot of timewarp

Yes, I know. But perhaps it's the only way to implement other star systems via mods. I'd also like to have something like a galactic center and several star systems orbiting it in KSP, but it looks like KSP can't handle that unfortunately. :/

Kerbol is basically set as the center of the universe in KSP, and thus all solar panel light comes from Kerbol. That's the problem with other stars. They will not give you solar power at all, and most likely your ship will be dead before it ever has a chance to get to the next system and setup. Fuel cells would slowly drain away their fuel supply, and to keep the ship constantly powered, you'd need a hell of a lot of RTGs.

Every "new systems" mod has to have a star in the middle, sadly. Its how KSP works. Because KSP only supports one system, it can be as big as you want but there can be only one primary-star. So I highly doubt this:

Edit if you look at Ktelomy, wich was real fun to mess around with, it has kerbin as the "center" but this is only possible because the whole system orbits arround the stock sun in a redicoulus high orbit.

just watch the last season of lex from the 90s and you will have such a system..... although that was a binary planet orbiting 180 degrees oposite the earth and we never new because it was behind the sun.......

Fact: It's technically not another star since its orbiting kerbol.
Also Fact: you play KSP too wich is a spacegame with little green comicfigures and stuff called mystery goo ... wich infact isn't real either.

It's not "my" star. I never said it's a "real" star. It's as close to that as the game engine let's the creator of the mod get. It's a game an therefor it's always a compromise between reality/playability/possibility. And if it bothers you that much that it's not a real star you're a sad person.

I assume most KSP players got a decent knowledge of the universe since KSP somehow makes people watch dokus and read stuff because its interesting. But the others seem to be fine with enjoying a game rather then trying to spoil it.

Yes infinite soi makes it impossible to have multiple systems.
Drop folder from Zip in GameDate Folder inside KSP directory (If Zip contains GameData Folder obviously you drop the content of this folder inside the gamedata folder)
