Yea the launcher broke Steamdeck/Linux compatibility so until this change is reversed I'm no longer interested in supporting the franchise. You can't claim to support other OSes/hardware and then push an update this short sighted and expect me to keep believing you.

Yeah, it's pretty cringe to spend time making extra shill launcher for original KSP. Especially since the original team that made KSP we love isn't working on KSP 2 and, unsurprisingly, KSP 2 looks like a train wreck in the making. First it was the 2 years delay, now it's really scuffed "gameplay" footage and, most of all worrying, the video documentaries showing AAA offices where they interview really nervous people.

Tl;dr KSP 2 devs are not KSP devs, KSP 2 isn't building on KSP's foundation and experience, it's a mess and don't get your hopes up, this launcher trying to piggyback off KSP is another proof of that.

I really want KSP2 to be good, and I was believeing them, but this last move is clearly yelling that they have no control and publisher is running out of patience.
I was going to buy it day one. Now I will wait to see what is the product before even thinking of supporting them.

Don't buy it day 1 or pre-order. Change in dev team, change in publisher, moving release dates, really cringe docu series trying to promote the game, but they only show staged shots and cringey tutorial videos. That's after 2+ years of development. KSP2 isn't really sequel to KSP, it's a brand new game from different people, only shares the name.

If you want to skip the launcher just add this to your launch options for the game in steam:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\KSP_x64.exe" %command%

You may have to adjust if the location for your steam folder differs.

This worked like a charm.

Hadn't seen anyone mention this, but it was another concern about a launcher, in addition to the others.
You can still launch it directly, from outside Steam, though, right? And can probably also use a Launch Option workaround to launch from Steam, as Windows users have been doing, right? (Assuming Steam believes you're up to date)

(Not saying that justifies the launcher, or the neglect of non-Windows users, just being clear about available workarounds)
