Steam offers two definitions, Full and Partial. KSP falls under the later. You can fly rockets with it, you can fly planes with it, you can drive rovers with it. As I also said, I can use my G27 in game at the same time as a 360 pad aswell as keyboard and mouse.
KSP supports multiple controllers, just not as a completely as you wish.
I just gave my remote damn near full combatibility by assigning HELLA keyboard functions to the buttons on multiple levels. The only support XB remote will have is flying, so have your keyboard close to your hands.
That's not how it works. You might not be able to use all the functions of the controller and/or you might not be able to assign all controls to the controller, but you can still use it. You can even use multiple input devices. So it definitely IS supported.
The fact that you have to spend 10 minutes configuring your controls doesn't change that.
However I do agree that preconfigured setups for popular controllers/joysticks would be nice.
Hang on... WHAT?! It doesn't work at all with my 360 controller. All I need it for is flight. And I desperately need it.
Is there some trick to getting it to work? Like wtf...
I use a 360 pad for flying...
Have it connected when you launch the game. Go to the options menu and the controls section. In the flight sub section, you should have 2 panels. Button and keys are assigned on the left, joystick axes are assigned on the right.
Set them how you want and enjoy.
It's even better with my ps4 remote. I barely use the keyboard... even for building.
I play with my Xbox controller all the time.
If you can't sort out how keybinds work, maybe a game about rocket science isn't for you?
(If you want to build with an Xbox controller you have other problems. Serious ones. Seek help.)
