Not being able to do things with it does mean it is not supported, it doesnt have full functionality in game id say that counts as unsupported overall

We'll have to agree to disagree I think.

Steam offers two definitions, Full and Partial. KSP falls under the later. You can fly rockets with it, you can fly planes with it, you can drive rovers with it. As I also said, I can use my G27 in game at the same time as a 360 pad aswell as keyboard and mouse.

KSP supports multiple controllers, just not as a completely as you wish.

If you have a Steam controller you can do everything. If you have a PS4 pad, you might be able to do everything (not sure if the trackpad functions on PC?). If you a 360 / XBone pad, you can play the game with it, just can't go through menus or build things in the editor without external programs....or using a mouse and keyboard.
If you get DS4Windows, then the ps4 remote becomes a dream come true. I fly with mad precision, I can land my planes and ships effortlessly now, the pad is the mouse, etc.
I just gave my remote damn near full combatibility by assigning HELLA keyboard functions to the buttons on multiple levels. The only support XB remote will have is flying, so have your keyboard close to your hands.

That's not how it works. You might not be able to use all the functions of the controller and/or you might not be able to assign all controls to the controller, but you can still use it. You can even use multiple input devices. So it definitely IS supported.

The fact that you have to spend 10 minutes configuring your controls doesn't change that.

However I do agree that preconfigured setups for popular controllers/joysticks would be nice.

Hang on... WHAT?! It doesn't work at all with my 360 controller. All I need it for is flight. And I desperately need it.

Is there some trick to getting it to work? Like wtf...
So far what ive gathered when it comes to actual controller support is a big fat " ♥♥♥♥ YOU"

I use a 360 pad for flying...

Have it connected when you launch the game. Go to the options menu and the controls section. In the flight sub section, you should have 2 panels. Button and keys are assigned on the left, joystick axes are assigned on the right.

Set them how you want and enjoy.

there should be a preset from console's for that "Ease" appeal

It's even better with my ps4 remote. I barely use the keyboard... even for building.

^ this is why it needs plug and play support

I play with my Xbox controller all the time.

If you can't sort out how keybinds work, maybe a game about rocket science isn't for you?

(If you want to build with an Xbox controller you have other problems. Serious ones. Seek help.)

Well, from everything I have read regarding the console ports, we really don't want anything from them being reverse engineered to the PC build. I also found this...

That's not how I set mine up....

Plug and Play support is still 1000x better than no plug and play support, given its on consoles how hard could it actually be

As I said before, the console development was split from the PC version and handled by a seperate company. As far as I am aware, they are still running version 1.1. Can you do this on a console?
