Kerbal Space Program

Bought the game off the website, now need steam version.
I originally bought the game off the kerbalspaceprogram.com website before the steam version came out. It now seems that i cannot get the latest versions. Is there any way to get the steam version of the game without having to buy it again?

Edit: Turns out i was about a week late to move to steam. Rip

In general no. The option to transfer KSP Store licenses to Steam is only available for those who bought KSP before it originally came out on Steam, March 20th 2013. Note that if you do qualify for a transfer and choose to do it, the process is OPTIONAL and IRREVERSIBLE. If you transfer your purchase to Steam, you will no longer be able to download or update the game from the KSP Store. To move to Steam, log in to your KSP Store profile and you will find the button to start the process next to your download link. If you can’t see the button in your profile it means you purchased the game after it was on Steam and you are not eligible, no exceptions, please don’t insist.

You should still be able to download the latest version through the official store?

From the FAQ:

The KSP patcher, which is downloaded with old versions of the KSP launcher, is no longer maintained or supported.

This means that it will not work.

Please use the patches from your Squad store accounts download page to update KSP if available for your platform, or use the installer or full game zip.

GOG customers will have to update via the GOG patch when available, or the full GOG installer.

Amazon customers should see an update version on their Amazon accounts, if KSP fails to update on Amazon please contact Squad support at support@kerbalspaceprogram.com

Steam will update normally, but pre-release players will need to opt out of the pre-release (select NONE in the Steam client).

When I downloaded the game it put me in 1.3, and the launcher doesn't give me the option to update. Plus I'd like the steam functionality.
