Workshop not working for me at all.
So I have a new install and some mods and I was trying to download some FASA craft files from KSP Steam workshop and they don't show up in game. Will they show up only in new games or in any savegame? Steam says I have 3 or 4 crafts but there is 0 in the rocket building load list and I see none in the savegame folder either. Ideas?

There's a special load option for workshop files from memory. Someone with more experience of the workshop integration can probably help with that but I can tell you the workshop ships are likely not with your save files but in the workshop folder of the Steam library you installed the game to.

Examples...

X:\PathTo\...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\220200

or

X:\PathTo\...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\220200

You can just copy the craft files to the same location as your own saved craft if you want. At least then you have control of them more than while they reside in the workshop location.

The other thing I can't seem to figure out is how to open the steam overlay I thought that might have been where I had to subscribe from but if I go to my profile and look for favourites they are there just don't seem to have downloaded at all. There are no files in the workshop folder what in the world am I doing wrong here?

Upper left
Steam - settings <this will let you turn on steam overlay for all games>

At top Library
Right click game name for options to turn on overlay for that game.

May need to restart steam.

Any Idea where Steam puts the craft files? For example I have set up a 1 TB drive for all my steam games but I uninstalled KSP because I was having issues so I installed it into another drives steam folder so will the workshop go to the steam directory where the game is installed or could it go in the Main Steam drive? In any case I went to my main Steam drive and found two folders under workshop with directories named 24110 and the other is 457140 I have no idea what games they could belong too. I just uninstalled again and I am going to reinstall maybe I should just put it in the main Steam drive perhaps that will fix things I dunno let me reinstall and report back what happens.

In your Steam library right click on KSP and select properties. In the popup, click local files then browse. In the file explorer window click the up arrow to leave the KSP directory and then again to leave the common folder. Now browse in to the workshop folder there.

KSP is app 220200.

Edit:

24110 = Everquest Rise of Kunark
457140 = Oxygen Not Included

There is a steam folder in the save craft menu, I asume that is where that stuff goes if I download a craft?

Under what circumstances craft end up there, I dunno, I imagine it's when you load them or export to workshop.

All I can say is that if I go and subscribe to a workshop craft (outside of the game), it is downloaded to the location I have previously mentioned. This is how workshop downloads for pretty much every game. It's only (typically) from inside the game that any special code might occur to move or handle things differently.

I don't have this ever-quest game. I think there's something wrong with the relationship between Steam and KSP when I sub to a craft in the workshop nothing seems to happen it doesn't appear to download or put into my game at all. I just found the folder 220200. I don't recall seeing that one before but even though I found this folder there are some 65 folders with number folders like this one 1435510012 in it.
Oh ♥♥♥♥ this it it is the folder I was able to open one of the directories and saw a picture of a craft for some reason I couldn't open the folders in the KSP 220200. OK now that I know where the craft files are if it's not going in game can I just copy these crafts into my save game crafts?

yes
each craft has two files
.craft
.loadmeta

Just copy those files to your game ships vab/sph files for each craft

Any idea why I would have to do this? Does it point at something I can fix?

I have no idea how this game and workshop work together at all.
I used to upload maps to Killing Floor workshop but I would also put in links for files since workshop for that game would be iffy and max out at 50 for all games or something?

IDK it has been a long time since I did anything with workshop in any game.

I was just informing you of how to move craft around in the files.
