Tweakscale and Steam
New ksp player here. I've discovered Tweakscale and love the concept of the mod, however when I install it it disables everything Steam. No overlay, no workshop, nothing. Removing the mod and verifying the files fixes it, but it's an either on situation. Any ideas?

Just installed Tweakscale, started KSP, hit Shift+Tab, works fine as always.

How did you install the mod, manual install or with CKAN? If manual install, where did you put the files?

Tried two different methods, 1st was with JSGME, 2nd was manual install. I did hit a hiccup when I didn't install module manager but once I fixed that the mod worked, albeit without Steam still. Installed per the readme in Gamedata folder.

one has nothing to do with the other. I use tweakscale with steam overlay all the time.

Shift Tab isn't hat default hot key for Steam Overlay, Shift+Tab? Maybe turn off steam overlay in KSP

Did you try to activate the overlay in any other game while it doesn't work in KSP? Would be interesting to know if it works at all in that case.

You could also try installing one more time with CKAN, it's usually the best way to install KSP mods because it cares about dependencies.

KSP is the only game affected by this issue, tried in War Thunder and AoE2 and both seemed to work fine. I'll check out CKAN, but Tweakscale is the ONLY mod I have loaded.

Tried out CKAN (really like it and will be keeping it) but got the same result with Tweakscale. JSGME allows you to take snapshots of all the games files to compare later on to see what's the same, different, new, or deleted. Hopefully I'll be able to provide some more insight.

Just to be sure, you are launching the game through Steam, right? You could also try installing another mod instead of Tweakscale, to see if it's specifically Tweakscale causing the issue.

I downloaded mechjeb but haven't installed that one yet, I'll give that a try as well. And I've tried launching through Steam, directly from the exe and the launcher. All same result. Of interest though, I had the mod activated and verified the files again. 1 file was downloaded and it broke the mod but Steam worked. *shrug*

I'm not sure, but maybe your KSP installation is causing the problem. I would backup all of my saves, uninstall KSP, delete all remaining folders, then reinstall KSP.

So as of right now everything is working. Idk what I did but I'll walk through the events anyways. Using CKAN exclusively to manage mods now, cleared out Tweakscale, activated MechJeb and tested. Mod was working and so was Steam. Disabled MechJeb and tested again unmodded, working as intended. Activated the previous version of Tweakscale (2.4.4.3) and tested, everything worked fine. Disabled and reenabled with current version (2.4.4.4) and tested, all was right in the Kerbal world. So hopefully this is the last of this problem. Thank you to those that stuck around to offer your help, it's much appreciated!

I hate it when problems disappear for no obvious reason... ^^

Have fun!
