Offline mode
I'm old school and do not really want to be online to play my games. I've been looking at different games to buy/play. Can I play games like KSP and Cities: Skylines off line without having to be logged into steam?

I don't know about Cities: Skylines, but you should be able to play KSP offline.

I've played KSP on an airplane when I definitely had no Internet connection.

Most single player games can be played with Steam in offline mode. KSP doesn't even use DRM and can be launched directly from the .exe without steam even running. Give me a minute and I"ll check Cities : Skylines.

Yes, Cities: Skylines can be played with Steam in offline mode but as with all Steam games you must launch the game online once when you first install it.

Ksp it totally DRM free. You don't need steam at all to run it. If you buy it on steam then you would need steam to install it but that is it.

You can move the file away from steam and launch it by the exe in the file. This is typically how modded players play it so the game won't try to update or anything through steam and break the mods.

Really glad about this honestly as few games are like this and when I lost internet for a few hours one day I could play it without issue.

Go to the steam install and drag and drop the whole folder on another drive or some other place other than the steam file it was installed in.
And yes you can make a short cut and put the it on the task bar or where ever you like.

keep in mind being off steam you won't have any cloud save or tracking of time in game or screenshot uploading or be able to verify game install through steam.

But if you are looking to play it off steam I guess you don't care about that anyway.

KSP is permanently installed, it is one of my "in case the rabbit chews the internet... again... again... ... ... again" game.

Once it's installed, you can run it via its executable file in the Steam folder.
This starts the game without Steam.
Starting it up that way doesn't tie it to Steam in any way other than being in a Steam folder.

If you right click on the .exe file, you can make a shortcut and put it anywhere.
