Can do stuff like set orbits, so you don't have to bother with an ascent. Or infinite fuel cheat. Should make testing easier, speeding up trial and error.
Remember that everything continues to orbit as you travel.
Aim ahead of where the Mun is, where it will be; about 1/4 to 1/5 of an orbit.
Can you describe your Mun mission? Are you attempting a manual transfer without the benefit of an upgraded tracking station and mission control?
Its really not that hard, 12 o'clock and 4 o'clock.
From the map screen rotate the map so that the mun is at 12 o'clock and then you want to burn at 4 o'clock and burn until your apoapsis is a couple of millimetres from the Muns orbit.
Burn radial in/out to correct on approach to the mun, it will take a lot of dv to correct using retro/prograde. When you correct dont take your orbit to close, it doesnt need to be on your first pass, grab your science and sail on by back into orbit around Kerbin.
Straight line: Craft, edge of Kerbin, Mun.
You should get an encounter, but you might have to do a correction burn along the way to fine tune your PE and whether you're passing in front of the Mun or behind. (in front is prefered)
2) Set Mun as your target.
3) Burn at the ascending or descending node to bring your inclination down to 0 degrees; if your launch was good, you'll already be very close.
4) Create a maneuver node with a planned burn purely in the prograde direction to get your periapsis to roughly the same height as Mun's orbit.
5) Drag the maneuver node around your orbit until it creates an encounter with Mun.
If you can't do that, then which step do you get stuck on?
2. We can watch a video of how you really do things, assuming you can upload to youtube or someplace..
3. A picture speaks a thousand words.. assuming you know how to put pics in these forums..
4. Until then, we are guessing that our guesses will change the guessing you already attempted to use, for the purpose of guessing your way to orbit, but failed at.
5. So any advice you get from us based on minimal input from you, will be a best guess.
