Maneuver Tool question
Is there a way to force it to calculate a maneuver asap rather than whatever time in the future it feels like calculating?

It's called a "transfer window."

The planets are constantly orbiting the sun, at different distances and angles from each other. You can't really just go from one to another whenever you choose.

When you go is more important than how you go. The difference in Dv requirement can be 10 times or more.

That's not what I ask though

well, what are you asking then? because it sounds like you want a maneuver to be made to, for example, duna far sooner than it's giving you...

...and chances are, that maneuver already is the soonest it can give. see: transfer windows

so the answer is no? I can't manipulate the time frame of the manuever tool

I don't think you can, no. It's annoying if you're a minute after the ideal transfer window so it creates one a year later, but you can always just see how the maneuver looks and duplicate it manually.

Its basic. If you want to do something that's more than a hohmann transfer such as getting some place faster, using a bi-elliptic transfer, gravity assists or even a monster hyperbolic transfer, you are planning it yourself.

It seems to default to the next hohmann window even if you have the delta-v for more direct options. Its actually not trivial btw to plot some transfer types, like gravity assists.

I found the mod mechjeb does exactly what I was asking, I guess the modders thought of this problem I don't see why the developers couldn't, I hope they fix it at some point
