expansion loading failed
got this game as the complete bundle. waited for the game to load. and when it did it told me "expansion loading failed" both the dlc failed. I've tried verifying game files, moving to an earlier version of the game and uninstalled and reinstalled both dlcs. anyway to fix?

Will the game start up without the DLC?

I would suggest you leave beta and un-check the DLC then verify. Start game to test.

Exit game and recheck DLC and verify. Start game to test.

You are not running 32bit or something? Not sure the current build would even get that far though. Limits on storage drive? Any mods? I suppose not but you never know ha ha.

apologies but doing that doesn't seem to have fixed it. the weird thing is if i remove the files mentioned, the error doesn't show up. Im not sure if that fixed it or not. im new so i don't know what to look for to see if its fixed.

I know it's been years, since the question, but when I searched google currently, this solution was unfindable. I hope I can help. It worked for me.

Make sure, to install KSP in the default Steam folder. It should be something like: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\..."

So KSP should be installed in the same folder, than your Steam client. Like this:
"c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\"

Previously I used another folder on another partition "D:\#SteamG\" and the expansions failed to load.

It was likely a clean install that fixed your issue.

I run this game and my whole steam library from a USB passport drive just fine with all the DLCs

You can even move the folder away from steam and run it from the exe in the file and the DLCs will work.
