Re-entry speed contest
Thought this would be a fun challenge: Build a craft that can allow a pilot to survive ridiculous re-entry speeds, with the speed measured from the first dip below 70km that results in an aerocapture or deorbit.
Teleporting the craft into position is allowed, you don't have to fly it up there before re-entry.
Try get the highest speed you can!

well technically if you clamp an asteroid, you can possibly come in at really crazy speeds...havnt tried it though

I'm going to try this out see what I can do. I've built a rocket and am going to try to sling shot off of Jool to get into very far out orbit in space then come back to kerbin and reenter.

I crashed into jool, not sure how I managed that...

Oh I see google messed up the atmospheres height, It said 90,000m, not 200,000m. Pretty big diffence...

I did it! It took a bit, 4 hours but I did it!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time: 67y, 299d, 02:03 or 4 hours real time
Speed at atmospheric re-entry: 5674.9 m/s
Crew was recovered
Full Mission (rocket was launched start to finish no teleporting)

Left the atmosphere at 99x the speed of light. Re-entered the atmosphere at 99x the speed of light. In both cases, the pilot survived. Call it luck. Made possible by Kraken drives breaking. No screens, but I've had it happen more than once now.

Our lord and savior, the Kraken.

This thing lets 1 kerbal survive a kerbin reentry at 7 to 8 km/s (sometimes can survive 9km/s) with 120% reentry heating: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2159286602

24 km/s. Likely the best non kraken drive run that is even possible (without cheats at that). My friend did this a while back.

Wow, that's quite something to watch.
So, is that 3 nested fairings, with a regular landing capsule inside that has tonnes of heat shields?
