I like the robotic stuff, lets you do things you could not otherwise unless you mod. <I guess>

Helicopter science base, have them on the way to Duna, Eve, Jool and Dres <that may be a bad idea, have not been there yet>

Also they have some historical missions <not my cup of tea> and a mission builder to create your own missions.

I use the DLC parts to build a lot, especially larger booster stages.

Breaking Ground: 100% worth it.

Making History: If you want the parts, install Restock and Restock+ instead. Restock+ has alternates for all of the MH parts.

I dont have dlcs myself, so cant rly say. But for robotics i recommend Infernal Robotics (for v1.8... https://github.com/whale2/InfernalRobotics/releases). Here is a good starting point for a well modded game: https://github.com/KSP-RO/RP-0/wiki/RO-&-RP-1-Installation-for-1.8.1

i have been told that in this big mod package the robotics of breaking ground wont work. The other dlc works tho.
