DLC space suits - only one neon?
Do different kerbal types get different options?

Just fooling around I stumbled on the hanger and randomly selected some different ones.

Going out and using the deployed science thing I noticed the color options for the lights.. frankly never noticed they had personal lights but the neon one looks great and was sad to see it only seems to be on one suit.

When your Kerbonauts become 'veterans', i.e. get orange jumpsuits, they have the option to be Standard Orange or, by going into the Kerbonaut complex and clicking on the hanger by the Kerbonauts name, you can select an orange jumpsuit that has neon lights on it's helmet and suit.

The standard orange jumpsuit lights are white, just like all the others and all helmet lights can be controlled through the hot key "U". There. whew.]

If by neon you mean orange,...

Disclaimer: Make a copy of all files you modify... Just. In. Case. (the Kraken lives!)

If you go into your game .sfs files, near the end you will find a series of entries like this:

ROSTER
{
KERBAL
{
name = Jebediah Kerman
gender = Male
type = Crew
trait = Pilot
brave = 0.5
dumb = 0.5
badS = True
veteran = True

That last one "veteran = True" creates that effect, I believe. Only the original Kerbonauts get those by default, AFIK, but you can change it... (change it from "False" to "True" for other Kerbonauts)

No it actually has lights that light up on the suit as bright outlines and RGB controls to change the colors. Stock game no messing with files. I just got the DLC .. think it is the blue suit? Hold on Ill post a pic

this one is orange so I guess you are right.. this is just a hired hand not one of the original 4.. OH I see what you are saying it unlocks for them all at higher star levels? Not sure what constitutes a veteran in the game.

I play with the gremlins all max level so I guess that just lets them have the option.

Too bad the orange one is the only one that has the neon lights

I guess a Vet is one that planted a flag and returned? This is her second or third trip out. Not sure as other kerbals don't have the option yet so it isn't star level.

From what I know, the only way to go beyond the default 4 veterans (Valentina, Jeb, Bob & Bill) is to manufacture them via keyboard!

I've never altered my game code in any way so there must be another way. I'll have to test things out.

Yeah, give it time. You'll get over that...
