I didn't know there was an unsafe place to get KSP mods.

I use The Comprehensive Kerbal Archive Network (CKAN). Its a utility that allows you to browse, download, and automatically install KSP mods. It even checks for conflicts before insaillation. I highly reccommend it for anyone new to modding KSP.
