Automatic mission failed
so i have just take the mission to test the flea booster at launch site.
Then i'v got a message saying that i have failed.
Sad that i saved the game after accepting the misson.
And i noticed the message only after i have destroyed the wreckage that was in orbit after completing it's mission.
A bug is possible here.
But i have saved after acceping the mission and befor destroying the wreck.
So when i load the save the wreck is back but the mission still failed.

WTF!

I don't think so.

To complete the test:
1. you have to do the test by staging the part in question, or right-clicking on the part and choosing "Run test" (or something similar) from the part options, whichever is described in the contract; THEN
2. you MIGHT have to recover the part you tested, not destroy it (depends on what is asked of the contract you accepted).

A few contract failures will not cost you your whole game if you're not on the edge of truly failing.

Did you really not understood what i said?
I got the mission then it goes automatically fail. I didn't do anything really. I did not try to do the mission. I didn't even go into any hangar or launching pads for that matter. Do you not understand yet?

And yes for me its kinda of a big deal because i was so proud to have a clean list of all quest done. Now i have 1 red because a stupid bug. Not funny, and i lost some points in the way too. Even less fun. I am not gonna stop to play and love the game because of that, but it makes me angry >: and sad :(....

Saddly i do not use any mods. My game is pure and clean. ^^ Which makes me wonder why this bug has to happen? Did i get it in the time to be about to expire? I really did not notice the time in such a way to recall it. But i am sure to always check that. I'm sure i had a lot of time to complete it as i was not in a hurry to do so. Nah....It does not make any sense at all. Sure it is a bug for no apparent reason. Just sharing this one to see how many got something similar.


oh i'm sry. But if ppl have time to just answer without reading, so why answer at all. I just had to make it a remarkable moment so things like that does not occur again and yet i know it will. But never stops to amuses me. ^^

I'm having this same problem. The mission goes to a failed status immidiately when accepting it.

You mean with flea booster? or another quest with same problem?

Just have happened to me once with only the flea booster contract, it askes to test it at launcher site.
This thread is exactly to find out how often this happens? and for which quests. Is it randomness or for certain quests?

I know this is a pain in the ass, but if you can replicate it on a new save then it'll mean the part itself is bugged (requiring you to delete the Squad folder and redownload it) if you can't replicate it on a new save it'll mean the old save is suffering from a version mis-match and you'll need to start a new save to continue.

yeah could be it. now that you have mentioned it. So i can expect more errors from this save. I'll just ignore minor errors and no play so serious on this save. :)

I can confirm this is still happening in 1.7 stock games. Also happens with "hammer" booster.

I can confirm this on the RE-L10 "Poodle" Engine (Test splashed down at Kerbal). BUT!, i remember doing the same mission (successfully) earlyer in the same savegame, so maybe that's a hint to solve this bug.

Maybe some contracts are in mission control which have dates that have already passed? I know they say the duration and not a date. It'd be easy to miss them showing a negative amount of time or maybe it even glitches and shows positive.

Same thing hapenned to me

i accepted the following contracts:

1 prestige test airstream protective shell

3 prestige test terrier in solar orbit

3 prestige test XL landing gear in solar orbit

so i loaded an airstream protective shell, an XL landing gear, and a terrier engine on a probe.

As soon as i launched the ship, i tested the airstream shell. Then, i took off into orbit around kerbol. i tested the XL landing gear and the terrier engine. I went back to the space center after that and i came back to this

so i went back to the mission control and it didnt say anything fishy on the contract.

so i accept contract from jeb's and get automatic fail?

This proves that Jebadiah Kerman's junkyard and Space Parts Co are a bunch of scammers.
