Right click gear in editor. Lower spring strength, increase damper.
(Gear bouncing is also indicative of poorly placed gear or an over weight plane.)
Thanks for the reply and advice. This feels like more of a glitch than some game feature that I need to build around. Even if my gears were placed in the worst possible spot. Wouldnt the bouncing stop at some point? This is a persistant bounce that never stop's.
They always have been.
I wish i had a way of showing a video of this. This isn't just finicky. (like bounding around a few seconds and stopping) It is a nonstop bounce. It doesn't change pace. I cant even recover my vessal from the green button at the top of the screen due to it not holding still long enough.
I am trying to figure out if this is a game mechanic that I simply need to build around (unlikely) or its just a glitch in the games engine.
(Turning Spring strength down a bit helps as well, like 1/4 or so.)
Yes I tried that after you said. I just forgot to mention it. It makes the bounce a little less but did not solve the problem. Plane spawn's, starts bouncing and wobbling almost as if its being hit by very strong wind. it just dances around the runway.
Lower spring strength/max out damper; no bounce. Hitting the brakes or timewarping a bit can fix it as well.
Like I said, the starting gear are buggy; always have been. Some patches they are better, some they are worse. I think 1.4.4 flubbed them up a bit again.
Just posted a this. Didnt touch the sprint strength but the dampners are full. Did yours look like this?

Typically you have either 2 rear and 1 nose (Tricycle) or 2 middle and 1 rear (Taildragger.)
Lower the spring strength as well, not all the way but 1/4 or a 1/2. Putting the brakes on or timewarping will help as well.
I had 1 wheel on the front before. I put 2 on the front to help stabalize it but it didn't work.
I can tinker with those all day. But getting back to the heart of my question. Is this a glitch that just I myself am suffering? If so then I don't want to go down this long painful road of tweeking and trying every slider, only to figure out it is a problem with the game itself. It seem's like no one has had this issue other than me. Did yours bounce just as bad when you tried it earlier?
Yeah like I said, at default settings it just sat there and bounced infinitely. It's not just you. This is a long standing, and often recurring issue with the starting gear.
Spring Strength at .5 and Damper at 2 completely fixed it for me though, as it usually does whenever this happens in my experience.
I wish I could offer more help besides that. Basically you want to get the next set of gear as soon as possible. All the other gear is deployable/stowable. I've always had the suspicion that plays into this bug somehow. Because it only ever seems to affect the first fixed set of gear.
Thank you. You did help. I have been working on this for 2 days and havn't gotten to enjoy the game lol. Now I can revert back to having fun. Will making those changes to the springs and damper's effect me when trying to land?
Not a problem, glad to help.
As far as landing; If anything it'll just make the landing softer and less "bouncy."
