If however, you're using the TR feature that allowed you to setup specific faces for Bill, Bob and Jeb....you'll need to do some investigating.
DIRT is a cut down and simplified version of TR so it might not have everything you need but if all you really want to do is replace already existing textures, then it will do the job.
Edit: Presumably DIRT doesn't cause a problem as it would change those files if they are named the same. That's pretty much all it does so I imagine the suit change function would still work, just with the replaced textures....could be wrong though.
I haven't even updated it yet, and it's working fine for me in 1.4.4.

Can you explain your folder structure to me? I remember one of the last versions had to have the textures inside a "head" folder, but then they changed it and you needed to have another folder containing the individual textures in the last version I used before this.
Tried DIRT, but theres no way to change the heads in-game like the main TRR fork. Or maybe I have to read the documentation more

Thanks, I know of CKAN, long time forum user here. I'm using the original Texture Replacement Mod instead of TRR fork, and so far, so good. Thanks for all the help, guys!
