Multiple attachment points?
How do I attach things, like strap-on boosters, wings, etc., to multiple points at the same time during construction?

turn on symmetry. There is an icon in the lower left of the screen. Usually it looks like a dot with a circle around it concentrically.

The symmetry icon is a square that changes to two squares for mirror and a sliced circle for rotational symmetry from memory. The dot inside a circle is angle snap, which changes to a dot inside a hexagon, I think.

I typically have editor extensions installed though so might be mixing something up.

Oh yes, thank you for correcting me. I use editor extensions as well.

You don’t. You have to use struts instead for the other connection points.

Struts have nothing to do with attaching things "like strap-on boosters, wings, etc., to multiple points at the same time during construction". I'm not sure what you are trying to answer, but I know you well know that struts are useful for making a vessel more rigid, but they have nothing to do with actually attaching parts.

Ah, maybe this sort of scenario is what MechBFP was referring to.

Turn symmetry on and everything should snap on the way you want.
Attachment nodes have to be in symmetry (as in placed by symmetry) for this to work.

It’s also what the OP is asking if you read his post.

No, I don't see that at all. I believe the OP was asking "How do I attach things, like strap-on boosters, wings, etc., to multiple points at the same time during construction". That's a symmetry question IMHO, having really nothing to do with re-attaching, or more accurately - anchoring -multiple main bodies (which is what recoupler is for).

In any case, I think we've probably covered the OP's question.

If I understand the responses, that's not my problem. I want to attach, for example, a booster to two radial separators on each side, so that it doesn't buck around on the single attachment point. Struts evidently wouldn't let go when a part separates, unless the force tears them off.

Struts will break when placed across stages.....or at least they should and used to.

Struts will break when a stage occurs, no worries about that.

So like I was like saying, struts is the only way to accomplish this, without the "recoupler" mod linked above.

I'm not sure the recoupler mod works in the situation described, two radial decouplers attaching to a single booster. I think it works by detecting two attach nodes in close proximity and joining them if they are not joined.

Still, it's a good mod to have installed if you ever build within its intended purpose and really, the stock game should be doing it anyway.

It sure does, read the mod thread.
