It's blocking the thrust.
Anything behind the engine blocks thrust unless it's far enough away.

Have you ever seen a real jet obstruct it's engine exhaust with anything?
In real life it would only block a portion of thrust, not all; granted. Still a terrible idea though for a lot of reasons.
Hmm..I'd say "re-direct" more so than obstruct, but good point lol!
