What do you think of the turboshaft engines ?
At first, I was pretty excited to finally have a stock prop engine available (as long as you have the breaking ground DLC of course).

But while I was messing around with it, I felt it added nothing to what was already available...
I found the turboshaft/props quite clumsy to operate and in desperate need of balance.

First of all, you need A LOT of propellers attached to your engine and quite a lot of power (even with rather light airplanes) to get a decent speed and actually get airborne, while continuously managing the prop pitch, even during the takeoff roll.

Second, the counter-torque is pretty insane, and makes light-single prop planes nearly impossible to fly.

Thirdly, the fuel consumption is pretty damn high for a rather poor performing aircraft... I guess I could refine my designs, but at the moment, small turbojet engines are far more easier to setup, use and much more efficient.

And lastly, having no sound for props and engines is pretty annoying but I suppose this will get fixed in the near future... Also, turboshaft engines belong to the "engine" section... Not robotics !

In the end, I see no real benefit of using these turboshaft engines over turbojets or turbofan engines.

Are you feeling the same, or did you find tricks to make these engines relevant compared to the "regular" turbojets/turbofans ?

Cheers.

Took longer than I expected, but I managed to get a small single engine prop plane get off the ground, fly around and land it. A single prop will cause a slight roll however you can add trim to counteract the roll just like in real life.

The only thing that I was a little disappointed with is the lack of engine sounds. Same with rover wheels and robotics parts. I know there is a mod for the wheels and it's great.. I just wish there was official sounds.
