How to : remove mod(s), yes a lot of mods
say your KSP folder is pilling up all the latest mods you could find, you took a break for years and came back realizing you just stuck with all those outdated mods causing all sorts of problem in latest KSP.

Its great if you install them in the first place using mod manager like CKAN or VORTEX, but what if it failed to detect currently installed mods?

So how to remove all mods without taking the whole day(sort of) to remove all those mods?
Behold what lord gaben's angels (valve devs) has given us, the Steam Backup & Restore function.

1. Backup your updated KSP version
2. Remove KSP folder
3. Restore KSP
4. voila, fresh new KSP
5. install CKAN/VORTEX
6. install mod happily

(NOTE. well depending on how fast your hard drive is.... but does 3gb gonna take you more than 10minutes?)

Or, just delete everything in the KSP>Gamedata folder that isn't the "Squad" or "Squad expansion" folders.

(Or heck, you can just delete everything in Gamedata and then verify the integrity of the files through the Steam properties menu.)

Much simpler.

sadly, i've done this :( but theres also mods that are place on the root folder of KSP, and the problematics went striking.

EDIT: with verify you'll download it again in which case is (for some people) longer than backup n restore

What mod has you placing things in the root folder?

You'll only download the files you don't have, which will be just the stuff you deleted from Gamedata.

I've never used or heard of a single one and I've been playing for a long time?

well, i deleted everything in GameData but Squad n SquadExpansion, but its still trying to load mods. Then i thought this method isnt that time consuming because you eventually have to reinstall the outdated mods using mod manager

If you know it's trying to load them you should have some indication of what they are right?

Lot's of people install all their mods and update them manually. I do, not every mod is on CKAN for one.

You do whatever works for you though I guess.

In ye olden days, game files and mods were located in various folders, Internals, Parts, Plugins and so on. These folders still exist. I know they said "root folder" but it's possible there were relics in these.
