Kerbal Space Program

Kerbal Space Program

Liquid fueled engines don't function - OP is a noob. Solved!
I've played KSP before but tonight downloaded the game through Steam with the two DLCs.

Liquid-fueled engines won't fire. Solids do, but liquid rocket engines and jet engines will not ignite. Proper fuels are selected for each type. Engines are set for full throttle, throttle is adjusted after ignition and there is no change. Checking engine status indicates 0 fuel flow, 0 impulse. When engines are activated, fuel levels are displayed but remain unchanged.

Dell M3800, Core i7 2.20 GHz and 16GB RAM. When I run verification of the game files in properties, Steam indicates a problem but after Steam says it'll reacquire those game files, nothing happens.

Anyone experienced this bug? I'm at my wits end.

Give us a screenshot of the ship in question. because this can either be a bug or you didn't have oxidizer on the rocket engine. or air intakes on the jet engine. but I don't know because we don't have the ship in all of its glory.

Doesn't matter which craft; I have the same issue with the pre-loaded/stock rockets included with the game. Solid fuel boosters light, liquid fuel engines don't. Fuel and oxidizer tanks linked to each engine are active and not cut off. I've even gone so far as to run fuel lines from the fuel tanks to the engines.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but can't seem to track down all of the game files Steam leaves behind. I haven't been able to wipe those out before I reinstall.

Did you uninstall and then delete the KSP main folder before reinstalling?
thirsty1820 Aug 27, 2019 @ 7:27am
Yes. Then I restart and clean any remaining files I can track down through search. After re-installation there's no change, same issue is present. I'm thinking there's something on the registry or hidden that's preventing a full wipe and clean install.

KSP doesn’t use the registry. Don’t use search and actually find your KSP folder and actually delete it.

I actually did.

ETA I'm in touch with KSP support and so far it seems they're at a loss as well.

You know ETA means "estimated time of arrival" right?

That sentence doesn't make a lot of sense.

You prolly meant to type FYI.

Maybe some screenshots could give us a clue ?

Sorry about that, "ETA" in this context was meant to say, "edited to add." It's a forum shorthand I'm accustomed to using in other forums I frequent.

This one is a head scratcher. Here's a screenshot of one of my builds where the solids are firing but the liquids are doing nothing. This image as well as my save games were forwarded to KSP support. I'm awaiting their review.

Edit- the engines were all fired at the same time- the liquids show fuel level status, but they're not burning.

And now one where we can see the navball.

By the way, if you press both the alt and the print key you can make a screenshot of the active window only.

Indeed post the same screenshot with all the pop outs but with the navball as well please.

Edit: I am also 100% sure your throttle is set to 0 not 100.

The Wolfhound's status is listed as "off."

Are you sure you throttled up? Shift, or "Z."
thirsty1820 Aug 27, 2019 @ 3:34pm
I want to say it was some kind of graphics issue or a bad install. Nope, throttle was zero. That's embarrassing.

I haven't played in about a year and a half, and when I reinstalled it yesterday it seems my understanding of the controls remained a bit out of date. I'm used to space bar touching the stack off, liquids and solids with throttle defaulted to whatever percentage I use per build. It only activated the solids.

Thanks for putting up with me, all!

Happens to the best of us, glad to hear you sorted it out.

Maybe you should let KSP Support know this as well. :steamfacepalm:
