I need some guide on EVA space station building
Alright people. After all those years, tons of tutorial of KSP I made it perfect randevouz with my simple SAT. I want to convert it to a big space station for re-fuelling and far science with telescopes. So, I built a rocket with a huge container and put some big structure parts, docking port, infrared telescope and life support materials with another cargo. It costs me 57K credits for single container with materials but hey, its expensive space station building program money has to flow right?

Anyways.. I made it to randevouz with SAT 15M range and matched velocity. That's perfect. But when I went to EVA with my Engineer kerbanout, I can't put big parts kerbanout's invetory. I can't fit parts directly from container (it says I have to close as 3M range to targeted part to build it which is impossible.) What did I wrong? I dug YouTube but can't find proper guide to build station manually. Everybody building stations already in rocket hangar and send them to the space. I want to carry parts to space station and build station manually while orbitting.

Thank you for your help already!

That's not possible stock, so you're talking about a mod, we'd be know which mod first.

Kerbal Attachment System & Kerbal Inventory System which you can put big parts in big containers to carry them into space.

Matey! With this Reddit post you saved a lot of time! Thank you very much! There are lots of tricks in this post who interested to build some cool things while in space people.

I don't assemble space stations using KAS/KIS... build larger station modules, launch em into orbit, and connect them with the docking ports you installed.

Guys I'm sharing some useful tips (some of them already knew it) for who eager to build something while on space EVA.

So all you need is KIS/KAS mods. Then go to the mod folder which is located in GameData. Find KIS mod folder and open Setting.cfg fiile of KIS mod. All you need to find these sections:

maxVolume = 300

grabMaxMass = 1

For example if you change MaxVolume 150.000 instead of 300, that means your kerbanouts able to carry 150K liter parts in their inventory! And there is one more option too that you can only edit and assemble the parts in 3M radius. So if you change it to 150 instead of 3, then you can able to attach the parts in 150M radius.

So, edit those lines which desire you want. Attaching the parts while on EVA is a little bit hard but so fun. So I did 5 runs to the same station to upgrade it into a science and re-fueling station which is took like 1 and a half hour.

Stay safe kerbanouts!
