Out of curiosity, would you be able to locate the following file?
appmanifest_220200.acf
Then copy and paste its contents here or to pastebin?
For people who suffer from this issue (missing executable), it looks like Steam thinks it should be launching the Mac version. I'm just wondering if there is any evidence of this within the appmanifest.
Could be barking up the wrong tree entirely but I'm trying to figure out where Steam gets the idea to look for KSP.app rather than KSP.exe.
So, options...
1) Right click on Kerbal Space Program in your library list, select properties. Go to the local file tab and click browse local files. In the file explorer window, click the up arrow that takes you up a directory level, do it again so you are viewing various folders like "common" "workshop" and such. This is where you will find the appmanifest for KSP.
2) Open a file explorer window, have the view on "This PC" so you see various libraries and hard drives. Paste appmanifest_220200.acf in to the search field and hit enter. It might take a while to fully search your computer depending on how it is configured but it should find it eventually.
If it's genuinely missing, I'll be surprised but...you never know.
