Ore on the Surface of Minmus
I just got very excited because my probe finally got to minmus and landed(wow that lil spark engines I love em :D).And the picture showes that there is an ore concentration of 14.34%, sooooo is that right? Isnt that very much??? I heard about 8% is very good? https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/907904632813041353/386037E3C38C3BFF0B8F40916B25FBB436B3567F/

You can get about the same percentage without even leaving Kerbin, just drive over to the grasslands area.

To answer your question though, yeah; 15% is pretty good, I doubt you'll find any spot that's much better. I'd set up your mining operation there if you are gonna make one.

Ore allocation is random in every game. With just a few key values like Ike generally having only tiny amounts, often below 3.
And yes, everything past 10 is awesome.
Everything above 5 worth taking a look into exploiting it somehow.
Also depends on your mod setup of course, but many mods with new resources use the very same system.

If you play stock only then ore is all you need and you will probably find 10+ biomes on nearly every moon and planet.

Ahh, well still; drive/fly to whatever biome on Kerbin got randomly selected to have high ore concentration. Boom, free money. (Not that you really need more money lol.)

Really, high ore concentration isn't super important, you're only saving time. And since you'll be time warping the process, not such a big deal. If it's easy enough to get to though, no reason not to tap it.

Nah just an unmodded surface base
15 is plenty then just kinda refuel base but mostly to look good and its the big flats biome on minmus a nice flat area just perfect :D

Very nice for airplane style landings :D

You could spare more DV!

J/K. Minmus flats is really nice for a starter surface base. And minmus got several, so chances that one of them has a decent concentration are kinda high.

Highly depends on playstyle. If its a permanent base and not just a spot to use your onboard ISRU, which likely means you may have several moon flights out there at all times too - being high means you can assure they will all get their fuel when they land. For a fraction of the cost of just slapping more drills to the base.

Seriously, who fast forwards drilling ? oO Thats a background task.

Add mods to the mix and you will need to take a closer look. ("What? no exotic minerals on this moon? pfff...Where do i...")

a few mods are there but only part packs and yes its a permanent station meant to occasionally refuell a ship or two :D but mostly cause style and to maintain a planethopper that i plan, using some dawn engines(yes I changed the cfg file of the converter to get xenon gas)

Most of my mining Op's are mission focused. I generally don't just mine ore for the sake of it unless I need it specifically for something. I find mining to be pretty tedious though so I'd honestly rather send fuel up in a space plane or something most times.

I do have a mining rover/platform setup nearby the KSC that runs constantly, every now and then I drive a tanker truck out there and bring the fuel back to recover it for funds. Not really practical though...I just want an excuse to drive my tractor trailer more often lol.

Everybody has their own playstyle though, not saying mining Op's are useless or anything.

Admit im also still shipping fuel to orbit. Simply because it comes with all the tourists, its their backup they then leave at the station :)

But add EL to the mix and you would want to have a lot of ore rather sooner than later.
Not to mention MKS...

Boring :steambored:
But everyone to their own. However if you like base building meiko, maybe take a look into some of the mods geared towards it.
Not only for parts, but especially to have a reason/incentive to do so in the first place.

earlier versions of KSP 1.5+years ago had ore concentrations of 2..6% in most places, rarely up to 8%.

Then roughly 1 year ago changing some mining settings all planets and moons effectively got ~1.5..2 times that. So it is usual these days to find 12..14% in good spots. Mining has become much more quicker.

Yes i would love to do that but i think its to complicated maybe mks lite but not yet thank you all for your advice
