How to have BIOME OVERLAY?
Last time I found it in the debug menu a year ago, not sure where it is now... Makes sciencing tricky :c

Biomes map is a bit iffy.

Use a probe core with Kerbnet if you don't want to cheat.

Or, if you do want to cheat; it's still in the debug menu. "show biomes in map view" or something like that. (Alt+F12)

I have kerbnet probe, but it's in an equitorial orbit, does it need to be in polar orbit?

It doesn't "need" to be in a polar obit, but that helps.

You have to right click the probe core and select "Kerbnet" then change the mode to "biome."

Thanks, turns out I needed an OKTO2 for the job, HECS wouldn't cut it.

just use scansat, don't go near the debug menu
or just use orbital survey plus
